 Well, it might help to know that maybe you could use the same kind of modeling that Azanor uses for his Thaumcraft wands, because they are upright when held, but when used, they "dip forward" like you said you wanted. I think that instead of a keybind for the functions, it would be cool to hold down one key and have a radial menu pop up from which you select the screwdriver function.

 You know, there is a mod that comes with a radial menu called (unsuprisingly), Radial Menu. you might be able to use that as a core mod, or see if you could get the code and implement that into the mod.

As for the extra setting, I'm not sure, but I did have another idea.

What if, instead of the menu or a keybind, you scrolled through the abilities by Sneak (Usually shift) + Scrolling, like the Modular Powersuits mod's arm, or ARS Magica's spellbook. That might solve your problem! :)
