Suggestion: DMU Legacy
Suggested By 50ap5ud5
DMU Public was originally a survival and RP server for the Dalek Mod. In recent times it has deteriorated both in its popularity and purpose.
At the moment, survival on DMU Public is very easy, with users being able to obtain credits from mob grinders and buy valuable items with ease, like the Tardis.
The huge amount of them has caused permanent lag on the server which has plagued most users, discouraging them to play often.
This lack of purpose and little reward that survival usually offers has deteriorated.
This forces many to build on DMU Public, which DMU Creative is meant to be used for.
Roleplay on the server has also been disorganized and mundane. Only the players attempt to RP together, and the lack of input from others, even staff members limits the amounts of RP options.
I and a few others suggest we make a new survival server and start fresh, to allow more players to be attracted to DMU and allow SWD to maintain their servers.
This new server will be called DMU Legacy.
Changes:
All players will be survival. This includes Staff members
Mob grinders will be banned. This will reduce chances of easy credits
Natural mob spawners will be disabled in the world
Spawn will be a lot simpler in design to reduce Lag. It can be similar to the December 2015 DMU Public map.
Rules will be condensed to allow easy reading
Only important places will be world guarded, like spawn shop and rule board will be world guarded. Players can build/ roam wherever they like
Server shop will only sell creative exclusive items like Tardises for a high price
2010 Tardises will have iron blocks replaced by quartz blocks to avoid farming.
Permissions:
Staff have an option of having a separate survival and creative inventory.
Permissions for all players:
Gamemode Survival
Colour codes
./set-title
/nick and other permissions are reserved for Donator, VIP and VIP+ as usual.
Participation and Benefits:
With experience from successful survival/RP servers like
Whoville, I think it's important that the staff members are encouraged to play survival with the players and interact with them. For example, organising RPs along with their standard duties.
Psychologically, the players would treat staff as equals and will be less likely to seek staff positions as a place of power. This will also reduce abuse
among existing SWDBae users.
This will allow everyone to enjoy themselves more. Everyone will be able to meet others outside of their comfort zone (e.g. Staff can find friends
among regular users) and this will attract more users to the server, and the entry fee will ensure regular donations to SWD Team.
RP topics will be expanded. The knowledge of (usually) older staff members will allow for younger users to create complex, creative characters and make a more interesting RP, allowing the server to be more inclusive than before.
With more users enjoying the server, this will attract more users to join.
In conclusion, these small changes will not only benefit the players, but also SWD Team, as they would be able to receive regular donations.
A specialized survival server will allow survival users to enjoy themselves.
This also allows users who enjoy building to play on DMU Creative, giving a purpose to all DMU servers.

I think this is pretty interesting and I also really want to join. Even though I only joined DMU in July haha
Sounds awesome! Can't wait!
Glad you like the idea!
Do note that this is still a suggestion at this point, it needs to be approved by SWD first before it becomes a real server haha.
Its a good idea in my opinion! But what will happen to the normal DMU Server? and there has already been a thread by SWD saying UK prices will go up so they will have to pay even more
they will have to pay even more
My idea is it could replace creative, as that is a paid for server and hardly anyone actually goes on it so right
now, in my opinion, it is a bit of a money waster since hardly anyone uses it.

Then what would happen to the people who paid for it already?
If approved, this could run alongside normal DMU servers.
I thought of this as a way to bring different gameplay, which can attract a wider audience.
This is not being implemented as of yet, it is still a suggestion waiting feedback.
I will be temporarily hiding this thread, the idea is not completely fleshed out yet.
