Tardis Suggestions Series: Part 3- Tardis Aesthetics
Aesthetic Suggestion 1- Empty Childs Changing the Text on Tardises
Feature: Empty Childs Changing the text on Tardises or at least the Vanilla Tardis
Origin of the idea: I was flying my Vanilla Tardis and there were a bunch of Empty Childs in the area. I heard "Are you my mummy and looked at my Tardis. I was reminded of how Empty Childs can change the text on signs. I then thought, why can't this be a thing for the Vanilla Tardis? Then I thought why exclude it to the Vanilla Tardis?
Description of Feature: Empty Childs can change the Text on Tardises to "Are you my Mummy?" Players may change this back by interacting with the Chameleon Circuit GUI.
What is the Purpose of this: It's an original and unique idea, and it's also one that's just Creepy. It also expands on how the Empty Child can change sign text
How do you suggest we implement it in game: By having a second layer on Tardis Textures called the "Empty Child Layer". It only displays whenever an Empty child has interacted with the Tardis and it overlays the usual Signs of the Respective Tardis. When a player interacts with the Chameleon Circuit GUI, this Empty Child Layer is hidden
Aesthetic Suggestion 2 Each Individual Segment on Tardis models should use its own Texture (Suggested by ShaneH7646)
Feature: A change to the Tardis Model that makes each segment use it's own Texture
Description of Feature: Shane suggests that the interior walls of the Tardis and the Exterior Walls should use separate textures
What is the Purpose of this: At the moment, it's impossible to change the interior texture without changing the exterior texture. Some, like Shane, want to be able to texture the inside for added detail. Namely, Shane wants to be able to texture a "pseudo-bigger on the inside" effect.
How do you suggest we implement this?: In two ways. 1, as Shane says, add a separate texture for the interior walls. 2 (this one I thought up), reimplement that old "fake bigger on the inside thing" that used to be in an older version of the mod. It can be transparent by default, but a texture-er may texture it if he or she wants to. There will be an outline around, but not inside, the space of this part of the model on the texture map so a texture-maker will know where to color if he or she wants to add in the fake bigger on the inside texture
Aesthetic Suggestion 3 Flashing Tardis Lamps (Originally Suggested by Jellyfish 3 and expaned upon by 50ap5ud5)
Description of Feature: Tardis lamps will now flash on all Tardises with Lamps
Special things: The light will flash at different speeds, another in pattern with the remat/demat sound effect, and a third for when the Tardis flight Panel is used (the flashing will synch with the flight sound effects. Who to credit for that idea? Unknown atm)
What is the purpose of this?: Accuracy to the show
Aesthetic Suggestion 4 Tardis Physics (suggested by Derpinator4758)
Aesthetic Suggestion 5- More Animations for Tardis Controls (Suggested by Whovian4Ever98Alex)
Feature: See the title
Description of Feature: This feature will add more animations for the Tardis controls, such as the door lever.
What is the purpose of this: Adding more details to something typically isn't a bad idea. Also, realism
I have a few more things I wish to add to this thread, but atm, I'm working on the wording of them. Basically, part of it involves being able to see the vortex when opening the doors or using a scanner, assuming that a full Vortex dimension doesn't actually get added
The Tardis Suggestions Series
Sorry double post. Please delete this.
The fact the Tardises and roundels could emit light when placed could be ported up, it was a older feature. Jellyfish also suggested in the feedback thread about readding the flashing Tardis lamps.
To add onto the flashing Tardis lamps, they could flash at different speeds, one for when the ship is idle, another pattern in sync with the demat/remat effect(which the sound effect isn't in sync with the opacity changesin the 1.8 version) and a third for when the Tardis flight panel is activated, also in-sync with the Tardis flight sound effect someone suggested.
