As we know, DMU are both a roleplay and survival oriented servers, but in particular, the Public server seems to experience decline in activity for a long period of time. I think the servers need a facelift in a way, to make the servers great again.
The Problem
The Server relies too much on DM features
From my observations, the server is very dependent on the features of the mod it seems and becomes boring after a player has experienced all the main features of the mod. This brings stress to many groups.
Many users who join quickly obtain credits, buy a Tardis and make builds. At a certain point, the server becomes too easy in a way.
Server staff can also experience boredom on DMU due to the repetitive actions of addressing ban appeals. While this is part of the job, this can mean staff can also lose interest in the server.
SWD and John:
Finally, this puts huge pressure on SWD and John in particular. Because the server players mainly go there for new features in the DM, they yearn for more things to do.
This is why we constantly have the " WHERE UPDATE 43909" " ADD A BIGGER ON THE INSIDE WITH HUGE UINCORNS" messages.
As soon as a new DM update comes out, there's a huge increase in activity as players go online to play the mod. Afterwards, the users get bored and keep yearning for more.
This puts stress on John in particular as he has to code all the features, and making ONE feature is not exactly easy. This pressure and stress can also be a factor which reduces John's passion for the mod. Without the main developer, both SWD and the mod will suffer the withdraw of the user base.
Changes
Improved Plugins/Builds
DMU Public spawn needs a more organised spawn area. Currently we have different styled builds in spawn city which I'm sure are amazing, but there isn't any consistence in quality, in a more direct approach, it's a area full of random builds.
I propose a new spawn city, with streets of houses around the spawn tree, ready to be rented.
As world guard will be needed for the rented houses, there are improvements to be made.
DMU Public could have invasions of certain mobs happening at random. E.g. Armies of mobs like Cybermen will attempt to capture DMU and convert all players into Cybermen.
This fills the story-oriented side of the server as well as provide a challenge for survival players. Players will need to either fight to defend their homes, run away or die trying.
This means players will need to use all their equipment to fight these invasions, and put their credits etc. to use to buy resources.
This idea came from the Whoville invasions, which were a great success and could be a major asset to DMU.
Not trying to steal Matt's idea, I thought they could improve DMU.
Along with other minigames, this would attract a lot more players to play on DMU more regularly.
Having OP items without a challenge is boring for many, and defeats and challenges are what many yearn for, but many don't publicly suggest this.

Willing helpers could stage these roleplays and perhaps script them, to make it more interesting.
Roleplays can be held on DMU Private, so that server can receive more attention.
Along with traditional MC minigames, Dalek Mod Exclusive minigames will be a great addition.
One of these are an idea, Kyron, Acediajc and I created.
Bessie Balloons
Description: Each user has /fly in a certain arena and will have 3 Bessies attached to them with a lead. They will be provided with a Power 5, Infinity Bow.
How to play: Users will fly around trying to kill Bessies attached to other players with their bow. After a time limit has passed, the last one standing with the most Bessies remaining wins.
Prize: Winner receives [X] amount of credits to be used for preparations in the DMU Public invasions etc.
Balancing: Users cannot punch another Bessie, they can only use the Bow.
Users cannot have /fly outside of the arena.
What this incorporates:
There can be more minigame ideas. If DM-exclusive minigames are implemented, I can create a thread for users to posts suggestions for more minigames etc.
How can this be possible:
Obviously with Invasions and such, this will create more strain on the hosts of the SWD servers.

I LOVE THIS IDEA I REALLY WANT IT TO HAPPEN!!!! The server does get a bit boring after a while but I still find my ways to have fun!! I RP with friends, I just go mining and I play with my friends and have fun and chat with my friends :D.
We're making a City for SWD, based off of Roman Culture. SWD's SPQD or something like that.
