Pre-Suggestion:
So the inspiration behind this suggestion comes from all those past suggestions of a console "blowing up," "giving off steam," or "breaking apart" while in flight.
In the past, I wasn't sure exactly how that could be done. Particularly with block consoles. but I think I have an idea now.
Block: Tardis Special Effects Block
Suggested By: Arcphoenix
Function of this block: So the function of this block is to generate all sorts of effects around itself, both visible and audible. It can make explosion particles and sounds, shoot off particles like the Tardis console is breaking up or sparking, and it can give off particle effects like the Tardis is steaming.
How is the block used: It is meant to be placed in the middle of a block console. It checks for block updates within a small region around itself if the chunk it's in is loaded. The blocks it checks for are Tardis controls. The SFX Block has a chance of playing a random effect if a control is hit.
Purpose of this block: To make flying the Tardis a bit more interesting
Any Other Information: Not at the moment
You have ALL of my support about this , it's an good idea .
what about some lightning on it ?
Well something similar can already be done using the tardis pannel. but the idea is ok...
But the modelled consoles do have the problem of not being able to put tardis pannels on them.

put a invisible block then the Tardis Panel on it , also this is irrelevant
yes but it is not survival friendly

You can place all the normal Tardis panel / monitor blocks on it and then use the /blockdata x y z {hide_mode:1b} to make them invisible
