A Harder way to obtain a TARDIS (suggestion)

Something I've noticed with this mod is that TARDISes are very easy to obtain. You can craft them without even having diamond armour. So after seeing a few different suggestions I came up with a way to make TARDISes harder to obtain.

Removal of craft-ability: My first par of this suggestion is that the TARDIS crafting recipes are removed. All of them. I feel at this stage any crafting recipe there is wouldn't really show how complex it is in the show's cannon. So to obtain one we'll have to go a different route.

To Gallifrey: Gallifrey, Homeworld of the Timelords, creators of TARDISes. They are sure to have a TARDIS there. But without a TARDIS how are we going to get there?

Confess: To get to Gallifrey, the player would need to craft a confession dial. To make a dial, you would need:

  • A Nether star (N),
  • 4 Gold (G)
  • 4 Diamonds (D).

It would be crafted like this: D G D

                                                          G N G

                                                          D G D

When craft left-clicking would Teleport you to the Confession dimension where you would get a message about what you have to do (incase you didn't see the story). When in the Confession dimension you would no longer have any items (you would get these back after completing the dial) and you would have to find and press three buttons. These button would be in areas the Doctor visits in 'Heaven sent', like the grave where you have to dig up the ground to press the button. When you have pressed all three, The Confession castle would move and this would allow you to get to the wall. you would have to punch though a special Gallifrean diamond block which would have the special property of keeping progress it has been mined. Sound quite easy right. Except like in the story, the Veil will be following  you. The Veil is unkillable and can kill the player in one hit (10000 attack damage). The castle may have monitors which would show the veil's point of view. When you are killed you would be sent back to the start and would have to press the three buttons again to get back to the wall. The Confession dial is not without its rewards though, and whilst in the dial you can get:

  • The 12th Doctor's red velvet coat (heard thats going to be in the mod)
  • A pair of sonic shades
  • A guitar
  • A few pieces of chicken (you need food) (Possible infinite chicken)
  • An iron shovel
  • Twelfth Doctor Statue

Once you break the wall the Veil will die and drop clockwork, just like the clockwork droids. Then you can exit the dial and you will end up on Gallifrey. One thing to note, is that you would still have the dial, but it would be in an opened state, a trophy for going though that torture. You could use this with a nether star to reactivate the dial and replay this mission.

Gallifrey: Once on Gallifrey, you would find your way to the citadel when there would be Timelords. Currently, I don't know how the Timelords would react to you. I think you might have to fight your way into the citadel and find the TARDIS yards. Once at the Tardis yards you will need to find a chest. These chest would contain Zeiton 4 a few other things and a TARDIS key. With that, find the TARDIS it unlocks and be on your way.

Reasoning behind my suggestion: I've seen a few 'Confession dial' threads and few 'Bring back Gallifrey' threads I think TARDISes are really easy to obtain. The mixture of the ideas made me think that it could be cool to combine those two ideas and make a little adventure to get a TARDIS (And twelves outfit).

How could this be put into the mod: Coding? (I have never known what this bit is for) As a way to make obtaining a TARDIS more accurate to the show.

Ps: I didn't use the Format because I didn't want to make the thread much larger and I felt that it would be better to explain it this way.

I have used the format before but didn't this time. Read the PS note at the bottom.

I can't use least text because otherwise my post wouldn't make sense. Edit: well less not make sense and more not really have all the detail that I wanted to put in it.

It will but if you gonna say it like this then we have no idea how we can put it in the mod. It isnt like press a few buttons and it can be in the mod. You need to explain how we can put it in the mod (if its going in the mod)

I do like the idea but the nether star would be quite hard to get in survival. Maybe make it something a bit easier to get like an emerald for example. I also think that we could still have the option of crafting tardises so we had a choice.

I wanted to make it hard to get because I feel getting to Gallifrey and having a TARDIS are more later game things. There are cheats to kill the wither without doing much though :) as for the recipe, if you could still craft it, why would you need to go to the confession dial in the first place? That is why I removed the recipe so someone has to go through it.

Yeah, I get what you're saying but I personally think it'd be cool to have the choice of both for if we're in a hurry for some reason and need a tardis then and there and can't or don't want to take several real days to get it.

Perhaps you could get a TARDIS at the very beginning via the bonus chest feature? It wouldn't really matter on server cause once someone has done it then they can help everyone else and on DMU it wouldn't really effect anything because you'd still need to buy a TARDIS.

I like this suggestion, as it does give more depth to the game and a bit of a story. The mod needs more 'challenges' in order for people to continue playing without getting bored as fast. The idea is good, if a little complex, and I think would be a lot of work to code. Therefore, perhaps cutting the whole confession dial story would be a temporary fix, and replaced with a quick animation telling the story instead. When clicked, you'd see the animation, then go to Gallifrey. As for its crafting, I agree with musket - the nether star is a bit expensive, perhaps just use a diamond instead.

Overall, I'd love to see something like this implemented upon Gallifrey's return.

P.S. Wizard not every post needs to use that format, this reads well enough now.

Very interesting. I made a thread a while back about making the TARDIS harder to obtain, and I think Arc Phoenix made a thread about having to go to Gallifrey to get the TARDIS, but this is the first time I've seen a suggestion about using the confession dial to get one. I agree completely that the TARDIS is way too easy to obtain, and I like how this idea incorporates a few things seen in the show. I also like the idea of going to Gallifrey to "borrow" a TARDIS of your own, much like a certain Time Lord.

Thanks man, oh and by the way I like your DM/command block vids :)

Mmmm! Love the idea of the TARDIS being obtained this way... Original.

P.S I don't know what else to say besides giving you this XD
