Bring back official RP!

As you may know, Matt (Didgeridoomen) recently removed rule 15: No roleplaying as the Doctor or Blocktor. He also removed the official rp arena. Meaning that people can rp as what they want.

This caused some chaos, starting with WeirdoGaming/The Flash leaving the DMU, then people started rping as the Doctor, but not seriously. Most people who rp as the Doctor are mostly just carrying the title and not carrying out actual roleplay. e.g. they still use bad grammar, which isn't expected from the Doctor.

Another repercussion is people being able to rp without having to take tests which prove that they actually know the character. How would you feel if the 5th Doctor doesn't even know his favourite sport, cricket? That would take a lot of fun out of rping. I'm not asking for rp to be banned, but it has to be more strict. The previous roleplay system was working fine!

I recommend that rule 15 be brought back, but not in it's previous form: You can choose to roleplay as anything, but you'll have to register at the rp arena

I voted no. While rule 15 did help keep roleplay serious, the rule was in my opinion quite ridiculous - you can't expect people not to roleplay as The Doctor  on a Doctor Who based server.

As for the rest of the rp arena, I agree, maybe it should not have been removed, but it was getting a little silly at the amount of boards there.

I think that if someone want's to reserve a role for themselves, they should be able to buy a custom rank stating their role (Prime example: The Flash) and then their name is added to a new board of reserved roles, where no is allowed to roleplay as these characters.

Personally,  I do think people can rp as the Doctor if they actually took a test and is officially registered. I didn't make that poll saying that rule 15 shouldn't be removed xD

I think the new rule 15 should be like this: Anyone who wants to roleplay must register at the rp arena

Took a test?

So you're basically saying you want Nexus or a another staff member to go through everybody that want's to be the Doctor or Donna or whatever?

'I think the new rule 15 should be like this: Anyone who wants to roleplay must register at the rp arena'

Well uh, That's a little silly....

1. Who will register them? Staff won't.

2. How would they register if the RP arena would be under Worldguard? They can't place anything

3. When Nexus found out we were shutting it down, while he was quite saddened by it; he was also quite relieved he didn't have to tend to it all the time and was a massive burden of their shoulders

4. The server is for kids who want to RP with Their friends, I never actually see global RPs between everyone

Thing's like global Rp or whatever are more for servers that are like Whoville or wynncraft I think it is

This was also just brought up in staff chat and both John and Matt have stated that it won't happen.

It could just be like the old system and people can make app books. As for the tests, I don't really see people against it in the past anyways. And the arena can be under new management instead of having Nexus owning it.

It's not gonna come back, because I find it absurd that people come to make asking why role playing is illegal. I don't see why WeirdoGaming left because of this.

Weirdo left from fear of chaos of there being a hundred Flashes.

Roleplaying wasn't illegal at all... they just had to register at the rp boards/ recommend a new rp board, didn't they?

And 1 more point... I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but SWDTeam aren't the ones deciding about roleplaying! It is up to the roleplayers themselves to decide whether or not the rp arena should be brought back.

SWDTeam own and run the server, not the roleplayers

Yes, but they can't read the roleplayer's mind and decide what is best for them, can they?

It still doesn't change anything, if a default decided it would be best if he could get free items, does that mean he can make that a server rule?
