In one of my more popular threads, the 'Harder to get TARDISes' thread (https://swdteam.com/forum?p=thread&tid=2136), I mentioned my Ideas on adding the Confession dial and my thoughts on a more challenging way of obtaining a TARDIS. There was only really one criticism, what if players want to get to other planets without having to go though the Dial? Well this is my sort of side suggestion on how this could be achieved by a little craftable friend called the Junk TARDIS.
Obtaining:
Unlike normal TARDISes, the Junk TARDIS would be craftable (I mean, the Doctor built it in the Episode 'The Doctor's Wife). It's recipe would probably look like this: D = Diamond, Q = Quartz, L = Lever, E = Emerald.
_E_
LDL
_Q_
This recipe is quite easy, which is a good thing for those of us who are not strong enough to fight the wither and get through the Confession dial.
EDIT: Doe_Killer suggested having the Junk TARDIS made out of Crashed TARDISes (his thread on that topic: https://swdteam.com/forum?p=thread&tid=1297) which I think is a good idea, seeing as that is how the eleventh Doctor made the Junk TARDIS in 'the Doctor's wife' and I think this would make this idea a bit more show acturate.
Junk TARDIS Permissions:
Junk TARDISes, like the normal TARDISes, have a protection system. Only the owner and added users can fly and break the TARDIS.
Customisation:
The Junk TARDIS is basically a craftable Model which can take the User to another Dimension (more on that below). However, seeing as there will be a Paint your own TARDIS exterior addition to the mod, I think it would be cool if you could paint the Junk TARDIS aswell.
Travel and a Catch:
The Junk TARDIS seems pretty good so far. Sure, its not got the whole 'its bigger on the inside' thingy with the other dimension, but its good enough. The Junk TARDIS, like a regular TARDIS has the ability to travel to other dimensions (Except Gallifrey). However, it has a few problems. Firstly, the Junk TARDIS' navigational system is terrible, so while you can direct it a bit, you'll probably end up around a few hundred blocks off course (and maybe even the wrong dimension). Secondly, it is made of Junk, which, if you haven't noticed, is exactly the most sturdy thing to make a Time/Space machine out off. This means, that, just like in the story, the Junk TARDIS will fall apart (a tiny bit, so you don't lose your designs and things). The De-materialisation/Navigation panel will often (not always though) fall off during flight, meaning you'll have to craft another demat panel before you can use the travel function of the Junk TARDIS again. the panel would be crafted like this:
QLQ Q = Quartz
LZL Z = Zeiton 7
QLQ L = Lever
Again easy to craft, but you'll need a lot of these if you want to go between places. To make matters worse if a TARDIS energy system is added at some point (heard a rumour that it was going to be added, can someone confirm this?) The Junk TARDIS would have that system too.
Animation/How Travel would work:
I'm thinking that it would sort work like this.
That is the way I have it Imagined, but It's really what the Team (or just John as he does all the work) want to do with it (If it is ever added to the mod).
By that, what you would see is an orange field fire thingy around the junk TARDIS, then a loading screen then exactly the same until you have fully Materialised.
Advantages of a Junk TARDIS:
A Junk TARDIS would have three advantages.
So it has some use after all!
So this had been my Junk TARDIS Suggestion/Idea thread, thanks for reading.
Sure, its got the whole 'its bigger on the inside' thingy with the other dimension...
Can you refrase that to "Sure it doesn't have the whole 'its bigger on the inside' thingy..."
Also i support this ????
seems like a good idea, but how would dematting/rematting work? since the junk tardis has no actual interior then if you summoned it inside a wall would it delete blocks? ( just concerned that it might be used as a griefing tool ) when dematting what would you see as you leave the dimension?

Maybe it would work a bit like a chair, or Bessie. It would just be a 3D model, and you could right click to get into it.

No i mean what would you see when dematting? like a time vortex ?

Sorta off-topic, But my thread tools bit isn't working. I suppose this is sorta on-topic as I was going to make the Title 'What a piece of JUNK (Tardis) [Suggestion]' rather than what it was currently to give some context on what I am going on about.
I sorta want to bump this for a few reasons, mainly to allow a few more people to notice this thread so I can get more feedback.
Sorry if I wasn't allowed to do this.

Going to tell you this. You are always allowed to bump your own thread if you want John and other ppl to notice it

Ok, good to know. Really want more people to look at this suggestion, because the more feedback I get, the better I can make the suggestion.
I definitely like this idea! Junk Tardis would be a great addition to the mod and would make for a useful travel feature.
A small note, however. When I do end up modeling the Junk Tardis for the mod, it will not be built.
The entire thing would be one solid model (of course, in game it would have invisible blocks in it for a hitbox.)
The reason I state this is because, in my opinion, rather than losing your ability to fly and being forced to craft/buy another handbrake, maybe have it 'power down' and emit smoke for a short time as to show it being hastily made?
Regardless of my personal opinion, I really like this!
I like the idea of a junk tardis, would definitely add some cooler ways of travelling to the mod!
Thanks for the comments guys.
Ford, I did mention that it was a model in the Customisation section. As for the bit about losing the the panel, It probably wouldn't be a physical thing, more just a chat message saying 'Your Junk TARDIS is broken!' or something like that.
I really like this suggestion, and this way of adding the junk TARDIS. I'm not sure how easy/hard you want this to be to obtain, but I had an idea earlier today, of combining it with my thread here: http://www.swdteam.com/forum?p=thread&tid=1297. Basically, instead of using the tech from the TARDIS wrecks to make a working TARDIS, the player would use it to make the junk TARDIS in this suggestion. I would limit my origional idea, and have the player find only two or three wrecks. I was thinking it may be more logical than crafting with a few items (or maybe not, it's your idea ).
I think finding parts of crashed TARDISes (probably from the Time War or something) to make the Junk TARDIS is a good idea because thats how 11 does it in 'the Doctor's wife'. I might a little thingy on to the main thread about this.
