[Suggestion] TARDIS Fully Functioning Chameleon Circuit

Hi, I know there's been many variants of this suggestion but I think it's time someone went right into the guts of this concept.

Name of Feature: Fully functioning Chameleon Circuit.

Description: The tardis will analyse its surroundings to find what's in the area it landed in the most and it will take the appearance of said object.

Lore/Brief Background: In the show, the Tardis could change its appearance to fit in best with its surroundings to be harder to be found by unwanted persons, the Doctor's was broken and stuck as a police box but why should ours be stuck too?

How does this affect gameplay: It could make the Tardis harder to find but it'd be more realistic for a tardis to be able to disguise itself as anything near it.

Image(rough sketch/draft acceptable): Anything near where it lands.

Any other information: Maybe there could be a button to turn it on and off on the Tardis monitor GUI that way if someone does want it to be broken then they can have it broken as whatever it last was when they turned it off, they can still choose exteriors from the exteriors available from the mod of the boxes etc but if they don't choose any of them and they turn the Chameleon Circuit off then it will be stuck as whatever it was, eg a tree.

Scans to determine if the TARDIS is indoors or not. If outdoors, scan for external features of terrain within 200 blocks of range (for example trees, ice pillars, mountains, gravel roads and village houses etc). If naturally spawned, it changes its exterior based on structure spawn rates in each individual biome. If not, determine whether the TARDIS is in a city like area or rural area based on the number of the artificial block within range, then determines its exterior based on the data. If indoors, scan for the number of naturally-occurring blocks in range. Determines if the TARDIS is in a building or underground. If in a building, scan for building style and change exterior accordingly (if in a gothic church, changes into a podium, if in a modern building, changes in a pot of flower or painting) If underground, determines if in a cave or mineshaft or base, changes accordingly.

If underwater, instant dematerialisation to nearest place without water to prevent player drowning.

If you have anything else to add to this let me know and I might add it to the suggestion.

I could add it to my thread on TARDIS customization settings thread

I could add it to my thread on TARDIS customization settings thread

That might then get slightly confusing, also you've got it changing a specific thing meaning you might have slightly more of a chance with mine not combined with your thread. If that makes any sense.

*Edit* I just re-checked your one and actually yeah, just credit me for it and post a link to this thread for it. xDD

Maybe the modders could make so each biome has its own default exterior (for example Floral Exterior for the forest biome, Boulder for the Extreme Hills Biome, Catus for the desert biome...), so when the tardis lands in the biome, the tardis automatically reconfigures itself to the custom exterior.

I really like this idea. I've wanted the mod to do something like this for a while now. We need to make a list of all 1x1 things in a biome that could be a potential TARDIS exterior, e.g a Dalek time capsule on Skaro.

I was kinda thinking the team could add some code to the tardis to be able to make the tardis analyse its surroundings and choose what best fits its surroundings, not the biome. That way if for example, it was in a cave it might disguise itself as a mine wall support.

but how would the player get in then? a  wall support is a fence and a player could never fit through it

If a TARDIS is disguised as an object that is too small for a standard sized door, then once the key is inserted, a door will appear hanging in midair outside the capsule.

Yeah, or somehow the tardis will just somehow create one, the cave wall support was just an example of something that could become a chosen exterior by the tardis when it's in a cave.

maybe it could just be a 2X1 pillar of stone?

Maybe, but the point of this is that the tardis chooses the best exterior to disguise it where it landed not with specific exteriors made by the team but the tardis just chooses its best fitting exterior for its surroundings.

ah,  i get it now,  its similar to a skyrim tardis mod i had,  if you summon your tardis inside it would be a wardrobe,  if you summoned it outside it would be a pillar or rock,  if you summoned it near a vampire castle it would be a coffin.  something like that?

Yeah, like that but it all depends on where it is and what's around it most. So it'd vary even if you landed in the same biome but in a different area, it might be a cactus instead of sugar cane. That sort of thing.
