[Dalek Mod Suggestion] Vortex Dimension (many BIG new ideas ) [New Dimension/Improvements to the Tardis/Mobs/Mechanics]

Users Who have helped contribute to this suggestion: Arcphoenix, Shadows43, pl13248

Dimesion: Time-Space Vortex.

Location of  dimension: Everywhere and everywhen. Every place and every time

How does the player get there?: By using a time Traveling Machine (A person with a Vortex Manipulator will also be able to go there. I'll have details on this soon.) or between dematerialization and rematerialization

Appearance of Dimension:

I am deciding this still. I want to be able to incorporate the "Tunnel" design of the show's vortex, but also allow for roaming in any direction.

Ideas:

  1. Tardis will be able to move in any direction and the tunnel vortex will  still display. The tunnel will just match up to the player's perspective.

    Pros:
    Movement would be completely unrestricted

    Cons:

The only problem is that this is really unrealistic

  2. The Time Vortex Tunnel will display during "boost travel." ie: Moving at really high speeds. The background will always appear time vortexy, but when not in boost mode, it's just a bit like the end. (with a time vortex patterned sky)

    Pros:
Allows the Tunnel to be a thing without restricting free movement the least bit

    Cons:
I can see it impairing the interaction between things in the vortex and the player
The tunnel thing isn't really the tunnel
There'd probably have to be something completely separate for the boost flight.
In the show, the time Vortex has ALWAYS been a tunnel

  3. The Time vortex will always be a tunnel facing the same way.
The player just can never reach the sides

    Pros:
Allows for unrestricted movement and the Time Tunnel at all times

    Cons:

This is heavily unrealistic. (ie: anything  moving across the votex)
This kind of breaks how movement through the time vortex is supposed to be (following the tunnel)
Time Tunnels are not often that big
Imo, it would be cool to be able to go out the sides of the tunnel to arrive in places

  4. The Time Vortex will be a system of interconnected tunnels (Poster's Favorite atm)

    Pros:

    Allows free Movement
    Is just like the show
Will allow things to enter and leave the vortex through the sides of the tunnels

    Cons:
    Limits free movement a bit
Not as much space to move around in
Can get confusing if the player doesn't know his/her way around

  5. Open Vortex: The Time Vortex will just be completely empty with a changing background. No time tunnel at all.

    Pros:
    Simplifies thing for the programer
Saves the trouble of all the nitpicky "movement through votex" and way it's facing details and what not
    Makes movement so much easier

    Cons:
    It's completely un-Doctor Who like

Mobs: (Over Time I will add details and perhaps cut a few mobs from the list)

  • Piece of the Mandragora Helix
    • As Seen in: Masque of Mandragora
    • It will attempt to attack anyone using a Vortex Manipulator and will also attempt to enter any open Tardis
    • If it gets in a Tardis, it will then turn invisible and escape when the player opens the door to wreak havoc
  • Dalek Time Machine (This is a topic I definitely plan on adding on to sometime soon)
    • As Seen in: The Chase and The Dalek Master Plan
    • Dalek Time Machines will (The) Chase players through the Time Vortex. After a number of landings or after a set timer, they will land in the same place as the player. The player will then have to fight the Daleks who traveled in the Time Machine.
  • Chronovores
    • As Seen in: The Time Monster
    • They attack the Tardis and may follow the player to his or her destination
  • Vortisaur (I'll research this)
  • Time Wardens (I'll research this)
  • Time Zombies (I think.. I'll need to do a bit more research on them)
    • As Seen in: Journey to the Centre of the Tardis
  • The Great Intelligence Perhaps
    • He'll probably interfere with your actual flying and likely spawn somewhere on a planet after you land. He may cause you to make a forced landing
    • The next village you come across will have him there
  • The Master's Tardis (if the Master is added)
  • The Swarm
    • As Seen In: Invisible Enemy
  • Vortex Dweller (I need to do research on this)
  • Dalek Stealth Ships
    • More Details in the "Mobs" Section
  • Laan
    • More Details in the "Mobs" Section
  • Lampreys (I'll need to do more research)
  • Vist (I'll need to do more research)
  • Occasionally, other Tardises and maybe a Delorean (rare chance). They typically fly nearby at the same speed for a short while before shooting off further into the Time Vortex or Vanishing
    • Sometimes they will be a copy of your Tardis (this detail was thought up by NexusVanguard)
  • Ramon Salamander (he's meant to be an Easter Egg. Deciding atm  on how this'll work)
    • As seen in: Enemy of the World
  • Time Ghosts
    • I forgot what I original was thinking for this, but I'll just have two here
    • An image of Sutekh (When going to Mars) (I'd look at either wodaman01's thread or The 9 Doctor's thread for details on Sutekh)
    • A girl (reference to the Timelash
  • Time Demons (Suggested by pl13248)
    • Time Demons feed off of changes to the Timelines (paradoxes, time loops, etc.) but they can create a pocket of Cauterized Time from where a TARDIS has landed or try to gain entry into a TARDIS while its traversing the Vortex by attacking it and if they can bring the TARDIS' defenses down enough (i.e., very low health) they can enter it, where the player will have to kill it to prevent it destroying the Web of Time.
  • Cyber Time Ships
    • More details here- link
  • A few other mobs that are at the back of my head... But I just can't think of them atm

I'll have the details sometime soon

Delayed encounters that may occur AFTER traveling in the Vortex:

There are some enemies that will not attack you immediately when encountered in the Vortex. For example, the Piece of the Mandragora Helix will not do anything until the Player lands his or her Tardis after a trip and opens the door.

  • I'll add details soon

Hazards:

  • The Time Vortex will either tear you apart or fling you into a random place and time if you are unprotected. Of course, you'd be lucky if you don't die in the Vortex
  • Cauterized Time (Suggested by pl13248)
    • Cauterized Time is a pocket of Time that has been separated from the Vortex (like another dimension) and can drag a TARDIS there if they have been to the area that has been Cauterized. They can be any size as long as they don't breach 300 blocks by 300 blocks and the Pocket should look like the area where that TARDIS landed before it was Cauterized.
      • Additionally, it has to be sustained by the presence of a TARDIS, otherwise, it will break down and cease to exist. Also additionally, any version of that TARDIS can be dragged to a Cauterized Time Pocket, causing more Paradoxes for its creator, the Time Demon, to feed off of, since a past/future version of that TARDIS with its pilot has been dragged into the Pocket.
      • The only way to leave a Cauterized Time Pocket is to locate the Time Demon that created it and send it back to the Vortex by killing it. You will then be able to leave the Pocket, as will your past/future self upon your departure.
        • For the player's past/future self, I suggest an NPC with the player's name attached and a skin they have worn for their past self. For their future self, the same process but with any skin. Also, their TARDIS (which will be spawned upon arrival in the Cauterized Time Pocket) should be the same exterior as the one that their present self (the player) has.

Vortex Manipulator Mechanics:

When the player is in the Vortex via a Vortex Manipulator, he or she will be in a bubble, protecting him or her in the Vortex.

I'll add more details soon.

Navigational Hazards: Details Coming soon

  • Time Eddy (holds the player in place for a few seconds)
  • Time Winds (may blow the player off course or perhaps cause a forced landing)
  • Time Storms
  • Bits of Debris (Idea from NexusVanguard)
  • Time Scaphe (Crashing into one will create the SARDIT dimension)
    • Details coming soon
  • Entropy (damages the Tardis)
  • Charged Vacuum Embodiments that lead into E-Space (if added)
  • A warp that takes you into the White Void (if added)
  • Time Rifts
  • Dimensional Rift (finding one allows the Tardis to travel to the White Void/Land of Fiction (if it is ever added))
  • Quantum Gateway (finding one allows the Tardis to travel to parrallel Earth at any time (if Parallel Earth is added))
  • Maybe bits of the Time War somehow showing up in the vortex due to a flux in time
  • Time Warp (entering one of these randomizes your location in the Vortex dimension)
  • Time Lock (Not really a hazard but it prevent people from landing Tardises in certain areas. It will be a defensive measure players can use for their homes)

Aethetics:

  • The appearance of the Time Vortex is ENTIRELY client sided, and the player may choose which Vortex will be the one that shows up to himself/herself (since there have been multiple designs over the years)
  • Occasionally, lightning will strike the Tardis like in 11's intro, but this is purely aesthetic (idea by NexusVanguard)

Tardis Exit Points:

This is something very wip. Ignore this for now

New way of getting to planets:

You know how, when you first get a Tardis, you can go anywhere from the start? I'm suggesting a feature that makes it so planets must be first FOUND in the vortex before the player can choose to go to them.  This will work by finding rifts in the Vortex. The player may choose to go through them and he or she will come out wherever  the rift opens, and if it's a new planet, the planet will be saved to the Tardis Monitor. The player will then no longer need to find a rift to get to said planet.

Whether or not the coordinates will be random, idk. As I said, this is a really WIP mechanic

Any Other Information: I have so many things planned for this suggestion. Consider it a sneak preview I had to make. Anyway, for now, I'll add in some new Mechanics

Hey SWD team i already know the tardis bigger on the inside effect is already in the works and from what i seen it will be very good.

this will probably take double coding and stuff but here are some ideas i have.

DOUBLE DOOR FUNCTION - The animation when a player right clicks on the tardis to open it is great at the moment but heres an idea that can make it a bit cooler,

(This should be made with the bigger on the inside effect functioning) my thoughts are when you right click, the door opens/closes and also when the door is open if you shift and right click on the tardis it will open/close the left door This will give an extraordinary view of the tardis interior from the outside. and also with a tiny bit less hassle if you right click the tardis with both doors open they both close as an animation and if you shift and right click on the tardis with both doors closed it opens them both with an animation.

SEE THE OUTSIDE FROM THE INSIDE - Again my thoughts for the current door system are cool but are a basic.  When you exit the tardis you right click and your teleported. i was thinking a door animation for the inside doors when you right click the door opens (the right door from inside the tardis its on the left) the left door function i guess could be the same as the DOUBLE DOOR FUNCTION (seen above)

Maybe a vortex for when you opened your doors after you have dematerialised and if you jump out you will fall through and die i guess. i know even this is asking a lot of coding and stuff but the flight panel can be operated in the vortex allowing you to fly through and have some fun.

These are only thoughts i dont expect them in update 43 or 44 as it would take  a lot of work.

II. Feature Suggestion 2

The Tardis Scanner

Feature: Tardis External environment scanning system.

Use:  It allows a third person view from the perspective of the Tardis.

Why should this be added in the mod:

A) The doctor has one

B) I'm sure most players will be able to relate to the following:

  • Stepping out of the Tardis and Suffocating in blocks (Nearly anywhere)
  • Stepping out of the Tardis and falling to your death (The End and many other places)
  • Stepping out of your Tardis.... Only to die as soon as you step out, also lose your Tardis that you had to spend time grinding Wither Skeletons to get [Not a really fun thing]. (any explosive mob).
  • Stepping out....Into lava...Dying.....And losing  all you had (Forest in a Box)

C) This would allow a player to prepare themselves and take an immediate scope of what's around them before stepping out of the safety of his/her Tardis.

 Any other information:

Aesthetic Detail: After dematerializing, but before rematerializing, using the Scanner will show the Tardis. The surroundings will resemble the Time Vortex. Leaving the doors and going into the Vortex kills the player and returns the Tardis to the player's last location before dematerialization. Or as an alternative, the Tardis must be re-summoned via the Tardis key.

Vortex Mob 1: Laan

Suggested by: Pl13248

Description: Whale-like creatures that live in the Vortex.

Lore: Featured in: "The Sands of Life"; "War Against the Laan"; and "The Pursuit of History."

The Laan are a race of telepathic, space-time altering beings that live in the Vortex for their whole lives and only exit it for their Birthing. Usually, their instincts guide them towards the planet they have their children on, but, if an experiment or vehicle that concerns time-space travel gets in their way, then those instincts are muddled, and they head towards a planet or time zone that isn't prepared for Laan Birth. Unfortunately, whenever a Laan is born, their coming into our reality warps the nearby fabric of Time and Space, causing deadly distortions. And if you ever happen to attack one of the Laan...you'll have more than 7.5 Billion of them on your coattails.

Behavior:

  • Attack Style: Ranged; Melee; Effects.
  • Nature: Neutral.
  • Anger Triggers: Attacking any Laan.
  • Special Traits:
    • Can dematerialize/rematerialize like a TARDIS to move closer to the player.
    • Can summon other Laan for assistance.
  • Attacks/Abilities:
    • Headbutting the player or the player's vehicle if they are in one.
    • Firing Spacio-Temporal Distortions at the player or their vehicle if they're in one.
    • Giving the player debuffs through the Laan's telepathic abilities.
  • Notable Weaknesses: If the player manages to get 20 Blocks away from an aggressive Laan, that Laan will then stop trying to attack the player.
  • Reference Images:

  • Other Information:
    • They move in groups.
    • For the Spacio-Temporal Warping and Laan birthing effects, I recommand a 3-D effect with hazy vision (For when it's fired from a Laan, an area surrounding the projectile will have that effect).

Vortex Mob 2: Dalek Stealth Ship

Suggested by: Blingbro, Details by Pl13248

Description: A Dalek Ship painted black.

Lore: Featured in: "Engines of War (Novel)."

A Dalek Stealth Ship is designed for one purpose and one purpose only: To Exterminate any nearby Non-Dalek vessels no matter their importance to the advancement of the Dalek Race. They hide in the most hard-to-see spots in Space and in the Vortex, waiting to strike at any unfortunate people who happen to cross their sensors.

Behavior:

  • Attack Style: Ranged; Melee.
  • Special Traits:
    • Can allow regular Dalek Ships passage into the Vortex via their Hyperspace Drives for a period of 20 seconds to try and Exterminate their target.
    • Can also go invisible for a period of 5 seconds after finding a target.
  • Drops: Dalekanium (obviously).
  • Attacks/Abilities:
    • Can fire Dalek Lasers at their target.
    • Can Time Ram their target if they're close enough, sending it off-course into the walls of the Vortex, causing extreme damage to that target.
  • Notable Weaknesses: If the player can get 100 Blocks away from the Stealth Ship, then it will cease pursuit.
  • Other Information: Upon destruction, the Daleks controlling the Stealth Ship will be dispersed into the Vortex, where they will seem to be eroded by the Time Winds (I think either a "Fade-Away" effect or an "Erasing" effect where their pixels are deleted one by one would work for this).

Irrelevant to this suggestion, but if SWD sees this post, can you take a look at this forum bug? It's been bothering me for quite a while and it has been preventing me from changing around, and adding or subtracting details of suggestion posts I've made. Also, this issue has affecteed more than one person.

To everyone else, I shall begin to add more details Friday or Saturday. Shadows, or anyone else, if you have any ideas, comment below

Also, I have BIG ideas for this dimension. If anyone knows a bit more about some of the things I mentioned, please share below. I'd like an insight on a few things and it could save time researching if anyone has any lore to share. Some things I'd like to know a bit more about are Reapers, Time Zombies, Vortisaurs, and the Sardit if anyone has any information there, thank you.

Also, if there's anything I didn't mention that you would think would be cool for this suggestion, feel free to it mention as a comment

As for formatting, it's being worked on. There are a LOT of new ideas here. It may take some time.

To do list: Tardis Damage System and Tardis Crashing

Well the Tardis could be struck by lightning as seen in the 11th Doctor's first intro.

There could be the chance of "self collisions" If you're flying without shields on (but that would require shields and a reason players would ever turn shields off) you could run into anybody else who isn't flying with shields or even yourself from the future or past and it spawns in a mirror mob (A passive mob that looks just like you) in your tardis to show you from another point in time. Basically the mini episode "Time Crash".

Other known time travelers like Time Agents, The Family of Blood, etc.

Bits of rock and debris as seen in the 1996 Movie title sequence.

The big space egg thingy Margie (I think that's her name tongue-out) flew in the episode The Doctor, The Widow, and The Wardrobe.

Do you REALLY want  me to go on?

The doctor always deactivates teh shield when he travels because that would do something with the TARDIS or something

I like you! (BellatorHD)

Was that actually stated in an episode somewhere? I'd imagine Vortex travel would be quite dangerous without it

LET ME ASK YOU AGAIN!

How do I give you Guys Files????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????frownfrownfrownfrownfrown

What kind of file are you trying to share?

I'm Sorry, I've had a bad week.cry

Mod Files.

Oh and in that case "LET ME ASK , etc." Wasn't yelling! Sorry

When you say Collisions, do you mean 2 people materializing in the same spot?

Because if you did, then that would mean that the 2 people would be in the same time vortex!

And if they were, and they touch (if it was real life) then By-Bye!

The energy f the time vortex, would absorb the kinetic and Potential right out of the TARDISes!

Actually there are 3 things that can happen in that scenario. The first is seen in Time Monster and Logopolis, the second is in Pirate Planet, and the third occurs in Time Crash. I'll have to look up the details on those again
