[Dalek Mod Suggestion] Useful Fighting Companions- Leela, Ace, Captain Jack, and Cyberman Brigadier [Mob/Companion Suggestion]

The Doctor has had many companions over the years, robotic dogs, Timelords, people from E-Space, savages, highlanders, shapeshifting robots, girls from the Victorian age, schoolteachers, Trakenites, you name it.

A lot of people want companions in the mod, and they have been in a number of Doctor Who Mods; however, when implemented they generally do nothing but follow or stay. They at times do nothing more than get in the way or die.Now it's cool having companions like Ian, Harry Sullivan, Aldric, Rose, or whatever companion in game, but I feel that companions, or at least some of the companions put in the mod, should be able to aid the player in some way.

And that is the point of this thread.

Minecraft, many times, is a kill or get killed world. A world of survival.

Thus this thread focuses on the companions who can fight to stay alive.

For all the following Companions

  • Ace, Jack, and Leela will have a hunger system just like the player. (I'll probably need to think of something different for the Brigadier, but atm I have no ideas. He can still have hunger as a placeholder though)
  • They will be able to carry food, and will eat if they are hungry and not in the middle of defending themselves from attacking mobs
  • Right-Clicking, with certain items in hand, may cause a change to the Mob and consume the item. Ace, for example, will take a bat it right-clicked on with the bat in hand
  • They will be able to carry health potions and will drink them if their health is low and they are in a dangerous situation
    • They really won't use them unless really needed. If they can survive without it (ie: natural health regeneration) they won't drink them

  • Limitations
    • The player shouldn't be able to have an army of any one companion. I'm trying to think of exactly how this would be handled, whether they will each be really hard to get or that the player will have a set limit on how many of each companion he or she will be able to have and whatnot is currently being determined. I'll take suggestions if anyone has any,

Companion 1

Companion: Leela

Planet Of Origin: Unnamed Planet from Face of Evil

Race: Earth Human

Doctor this companion is usually associated with: Fourth Doctor

Associated with: Sevateem Tribe, the Doctor, Time Lords

Main televised Run: The Face of EvilInvasion of Time (She of course also appeared in a number of Audio Stories, Doctor Who Comics, Novels, Proses and etc. Those are all within the main universe of the show (they just happen off-screen) but I won't make a list for it)

Of all companions, why Leela?: IMO, Leela fits best in the world of Minecraft where you either kill or get killed. Leela is a warrior, and unlike many companions from the show, Leela is way more than capable of taking care of herself, in a fight or any other situation. She is also fiercely loyal to the Doctor, and could be just as much to the player.

Weapons:

  • Janis Thorn
    • Causes Slowness and Poison (In canon, they cause paralysis and eventually kill whoever was stuck with it)
  • Knife
    • Thrown or used to Melee.

Behavior:

  • Leela will Follow the Player around and will attempt to fight hostile Mobs coming at her or the player.
  • If what she's doing isn't working, or her health is dangerously low, she will start backing away from the hostile mob. She will not abandon the player and note that I said start backing away, not run. Leela never shows nor feels fear
  • She can be set to follow the player or to stop following the player

Attack Behavior:

  • Leela does not need to be right in front of something to attack it and has the same melee range as the player
  • I'll have the details soon

Image of Companion:

Special Abilities:

  • Warriors Sense: Leela can tell if there are hostile mobs nearby. Even if they aren't in direct sight. Additionally, she cannot be snuck up on by most mobs.

 Spawning:

  • Being determined. I will say though, she will not be easy to get or will have some special conditions. You can always make another Robot Dog after all (actually that's exactly what the Doctor did after leaving the first K9 on Gallifrey), but you can't replace a person so easily
  • The placeholder for now will be that she will spawn on Gallifrey or that she will require some special item you can only find in a Minecraft Dungeon

Companion 2

Companion: Captain Jack Harkness (Most of this comes from what wodaman01 tells me. Other things come from NexusVanguard)

Place Of Origin: Boeshane Peninsula (a region of an unamed Earth colony world)

Original Place in time: The 51st Century (But later winds up in some unspecified time (possibly Victorian) or sometime around the 20th or 21st century)

Associated With: Torchwood, The Doctor, and a Time Agency

Doctor this companion is usually associated with: Ninth Doctor and Tenth Doctor

Race: Human

Appears in: Is a recurring character in Doctor Who and has his own spinoff Torchwood. (Does he appear in the Sarah Jane Adventures?)

Weapons:

  • TBA (I'm guessing perhaps the Sonic Blaster or Defabricator gun. Idk.)

Behavior:

  • TBA

Attack Behavior:

  • TBA

Image of Companion:

Special Abilities:

  • Vortex Manipulator: If you somehow accidentally leave Captain Jack in a different Dimension, and he's still set to follow you, he will follow you across Dimensions
    • Captain Jack will not have this ability initially. The player must instead craft a Vortex Manipulator and give it to Captain Jack
    • A second special thing about this ability is what happens when the player dies. If the player dies, Jack will pick up his or her stuff and then (after the player has respawned)  teleport to the player with what he could carry and then throw the items at the player. He will then go back and forth between the death location until he has retrieved all the player's items. This will not work if a) Jack dies during this, b) the items get destroyed, c) Jack was in a "stay" position just before you died d) you set Jack to stay while he's grabbing items.
      • Jack will only be able to carry the space available in his "inventory." You can take an item out, fortunately, if you want after he first teleports to you. This will allow him to start retrieving your items

 Spawning:

  • Being determined. I will say though, he will not be easy to get or will have some special conditions. You can always make another Robot Dog after all (actually that's exactly what the Doctor did after leaving the first K9 on Gallifrey), but you can't replace a person so easily

WIP

  • I'm considering an immortality mechanic. But it'll have to be something that isn't overpowered.
  • I'm considering some way to implement his "flirtiness" in game somehow.

Companion 3

Companion: Ace

Planet Of Origin: Earth

Doctor this companion is usually associated with: Seventh Doctor

Race: Earth Human

Image of Companion:

I'm sorry, I had to include that second image when I saw it in Google Search, lol

 Weapons:

  • Ace's Bat
    • She will not have this immediately. It must be crafted and given to her
    • She'll be able to carry back-up bats in case her's breaks
    • Perhaps her bat will have an extended durability than the normal one, idk
  • Nitro-9
    • This one, I'm working a few ideas for. Don't want her griefing up the terrain just because she sees a spider or something after all
    • I'm considering Nitro-9a and Nitro-9 Smart Bombs (Blood Heat), but Idk yet

Behavior:

  • TBA

Special Abilities

  • If Ace has any gunpowder and iron (blocks or ingots) she will make her own Nitro-9 as she needs it. She will just convert the iron blocks in her ventory into ingots to make more.
  • She will stock up on Nitro-9 when idle if she is low. She will not attempt to convert all her iron and gunpowder at once, but will only go to a good set-point before stopping
  • If she needs to make Nitro-9 in the middle of a fight, she will not be able to attack while making it

Vending:

  • Ace will sell Nitro-9. Perhaps her Jacket too.

Attack Behavior:

  • TBA

Easter Egg:

  • Sometimes, when idle, Ace will pull out her Stereo from Remembrance of the Daleks and listen to some music

More Details will come soon

 Companion 4

Companion: Cyberconverted Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart

Planet Of Origin: Earth

Doctor this companion is usually associated with: The Doctor, in real world terms, first met him in his second incarnation, although the Brigadier has really had interactions with every Doctor so far. He spent a lot of time with the Third Doctor too, but his Cyberman form so far has only met the Twelfth Doctor.

As seen in: Many, many Who stories, both televised and not. He first appeared in Web of Fear, but became a Cyberman in Death in Heaven.

Race: Was originally an Earth Human, but became a 3w Cyberman (I am coining that term to refer to the branch of Cybermen created by Missy by the way).

Image of Companion:

 Weapons:

  • Wrist Blaster

Special Abilities:

  • Rockets: Cyberman Brigadier is able to do mid air jumps in order to get across gaps or reach higher places. Perhaps there will be a limit, but idk
  • Made of Metal: Cyberman Bridgadier does not have a hunger system (although I'm thinking of an alternative)

Spawing:

  • Cyberman Brigadier will have an incredibly low spawn rate in the Overworld, or perhaps the Moon

Wait... The Brigadier? And as a CYBERMAN?:

  • Yeah, why not? After he flew off in Death in Heaven, his fate was left a mystery. Who's to say he's not still around kicking Zygon or Auton rear, still defending the planet off-screen eh?

 Companion 5

Companion: Minecrafter "Clara" Mob (I was reminded of this by NexusVanguard)

Planet Of Origin: Unknown

Doctor this companion is usually associated with: None

As seen in: Dalek Mod Update 39 for Version 1.7.10

 Spawning:

  • Overall, being determined, but I'm thinking it can either be...
    • Very rarely in the wild in the overworld
    • In a small house
      • It will either be dirt or something a little nice (like made of quartz or something)
    • In Minecraft Classic (very low chance and will have something other than the Steve skin to make it obvious it's the companion)
    • In a village

 Weapons:

  • Bow
  • Sword

Special Abilities (WIP):

  • If this companion has a fishing rod and he or she does not have any food, he or she will start fishing. This is if the player's not going anywhere and isn't in any danger. After this companion has acquired enough for a good walk, he or she will stop

Special Traits

  • The "Minecrafter" will have a skin and name of a random Minecrafter
  • In creative mode the 1.7.10 GUI will be accessible
    • This will allow the player to give the mob any weapon or armor
    • It will also allow the creative player to change what player the mob is based on (something not normally possible in survival)
  • Alternately, if for whatever reason, the player has a spawn egg, he or she can name it at an anvil to predetermine which player the mob will be based on

I'll have more details sometime soon

 Companion 6

Companion: Oswin Oswald "Dalek Clara"

Suggested by: BellatorHD

Planet Of Origin: Dalek Asylum Planet

Race: Dalek (Formerly Human)

Doctor this companion is usually associated with: 11th

As seen in: Asylum of the Daleks

 Spawning:

  • Large Dalek Asylums

 Weapons:

  • Dalek Gunstick

Special Abilities (WIP):

  • Opening Special Doors in the Dalek Asylum
  • Perhaps a few other things

Limit:

  • A player may only have one "Dalek Clara" tamed at a time

Notes:

  • I plan on also adding more details to Ace on this thread sometime soon
  • I'm taking suggestions for Jack. I plan on doing research about him, but for now I'll take any ideas you have for him

Coming soon:

  • Kroton, as redundant as that may seem.
    • I may consider removing Cyberbrig, but Idk. I probably won't, but I really like what I've read on Kroton

I really like leela as a companion, it's true that she would work on the mod brilliantly, I was working on a thread with companions recently. I think that there should be a companion that spawns as one of many companion options.

cant wait for you to do jack and ace.

Everything I know about Captain Jack Harkness:

1) Defabricator Gun, 2) Knows the Doctor, 3) Is part of Torchwood, 4) Sonic Blaster, 5) Is immortal, 6) Is a time agent.

I literally know nothing about him besides that.

So I'll take suggestions on him, lol

To sum it up he is not American but in fact from a place called the boeshane peninsula in the 51st century, one day enemy aliens attack killing his father and taking his brother. He was the first in his village to join the time agency which earns him the nickname the face of boe (but he doesn't  become the face of boe) another cool time agent is John hart. One day the Time agency is destroyed and it takes 2 years away from jacks memories, he meets the doctor, travels with him, dies and gets brought back to life by rose but this makes him immortal, and the doctor strands him on a space station (not cool) so he uses his vortex manipulator to travel to the 21st century (best place to find the doctor) only it burns out sending him back to an unspecified time (probably Victorian London) and a psychic girl tells him the doctor won't come for him until the 21st century. He joins torchwood and in the year 2000 the leader of torchwood three kills everyone when jack is out, he tells jack to make torchwood better and kills himself leaving jack to rebuild Torchwood.

he flirts with almost everything. Is extremely intelligent. And an excellent shot

THanks for the bio, but I guess I meant details (kind of what I did with Leela). Weapons, Attack Behavior, and an image with him in his usual clothing.

I think I'll incorporate the flirting thing and vortex manipulator thing somehow

What do you mean you added Ace and Jack???

They're now in the main post with a few small details and some images

Ideas for Jack. He has a pistol of some sort  with proper bullets. Upon "death" he will lay there sideways like normal minecraft dead things, but after some time (give him a minute) he will be good as new. (may need new clothes, but you have to chose to give them to him). Must be given a gun and ammunition.  Could implement a mechanic to find a normal Jack and you can give him his immortality.

 :P

sorry I was being such an idiot, That took me a while too. Your jack is good and your ace is great.

the one thing you could tweak to make the jack better is possibly immortality. NexusVanguard's suggestion is good.

Thank you for the mention, it makes me very happy. I wonder if Jack could have the ability to "seduce" some hostile creatures being such a flirt. It would temporarily "tame" hostile mobs long enough for you to get away. I can't think of anything he could seduce, but it sounds a lot like Jack to do so.

And you could find all of these mobs in Randomly Generated Structures. being as I've never watched Leela or Ace, I have no clue where you could find them,  but Jack could be found on his Warship thing from WWII. They could also re add the "Clara mob" and make it hostile towards hostiles. Simply because I think I'd be cool to have the ability to travel with any minecraft player without having to have them there.

More details added. I'm looking for some opinions on how having multiple of one companion should be handled and whether or not it should actually be a thing

Perhaps, one companion will ward off the same companion and it makes it impossible to have two or more of the same companion
