[Dalek mod Suggestion Compilation] Improvements to the Tardis- Part 2/Unknown: Tardis Sensing stuff/Tardis Tracking [Items]

Tardis Suggestions Series: Part 2- Tardis Tracking Technology

 Tardis Tracking Technology

Suggestion 1- Changes to the Sonic Shades

As seen in: Witch's Familiar

Changes: They can see invisible Tardises and when in an area in which a Tardis was dispersed, the shades will reveal this. Many specks will be in the player's vision.

They can also bring a Tardis back together after its Dispersal. The Tardis dispersed will reappear near the player. There will be a separate device that does the same thing for the Whovians who don't reallly like the shades

Suggestion 2- Time Sensor

As seen in: Time Monster (and possibly The Mark of The Rani (although that one looked different))

Function: It tells distance to the nearest Tardis or Weeping Angel. This is given in one value. It's mostly a general thing and doesn't work as well when you're actually near the Tardis.

Suggestion 3- Timey-Wimey Detector

As seen in: Blink

Function: It beeps like a metal detector when being used, getting faster and louder the closer the player is to a Tardis or Weeping Angel. It's best for close range.

Purpose of all this stuff: to provide a way for players to find their Tardises easier (sure you could just summon it perhaps, but what's the fun in that?) and the Tardises of anyone trying to stowaway in the player's home.

Suggestion 4- Tardis Homing Device

As Seen in: Full Circle, The Keeper of Traken, The Visitation, and Mawdryn Undead

Function: It allows a player a way to find his or her Tardis

Use:

  • While the player is holding it or while it's in the player's inventory, it will have an animation, much like a Compass or clock. (it will however) tend to be more accurate while the player is holding it
  • The Homing Device communicates things by flashing. It has two modes, distance and direction. Using the item while it's in your hand will swap it between these modes.
    • In Distance, the light will flash slower the further you are from your Tardis and will increase in speed the  closer you get.
      • If you're past a certain value away however, it will not blink at all (since, realistically, there's a limit on how slow or fast it could flash and still be consistent or reasonable).
    • In Direction, the light will flash slower the more you are turned away from the Tardis and will blink faster the more you are turned towards it
      • If the Light is not blinking at all, that means that you are not in the same Dimension/Planet/Time Zone as your Tardis

Synching: It can be synced to a Tardis in much the same way a key can

Any other Information: Unlike other forms of Tardis Tracking, this one is bound only to the user's own Tardis and is much less susceptible to being distracted by phenomenon such as Weeping Angels due to it being synched to only pick up it's respective Tardis

Suggestion 5- Temporal Disturbance Detector

Function: It goes off like crazy whenever a Tardis materializes nearby or if there is a weeping angel nearby.

What all can it do?:

  1. The trigger- The player can set the trigger to activate for the following conditions: materialization of any Tardis, materialization of any Tardis with Exceptions, or materialization of specific Tardises.
  2. Operation- The Detector will do one of the following and can be set by the player- Redstone (default continuous but stop when trigger is true, default off but pulse when trigger is true, and default off but continuous when trigger is true), Alarm (Sound around Block, Notify player associated with alarm block, none, or notify player and player's teammates (scoreboard))

Suggestion 6- A way to Lock onto another Tardis when flying in the Vortex

I'll have the details soon

Suggestion 7- Changes to the Tardis Wall panel- Originally Suggested by 50ap5ud5

New Abilities: Being able to swap between which Tardis you're looking at the data for by clicking on the wall display.

GUI:

The wall display could display data as usual when not opened.

When right clicked on, open a GUI with 3 buttons- List, left, and right.

There would be a rendered image of the player's Tardis in it's current exterior with a chosen nickname if the player decided to give one.

The arrows would scroll between Tardises like the Chameleon Circuit or Planet Selection GUIS and List would open a list with a scroll bar, showing multiple exterior names at once.

A GUI could pop up with arrows on the left and right sides of the panel which, when left clicked on with the GUI open will scroll through the Tardises owned.

New Data:

  • Tardis interior Position (Suggested by 50ap5ud5)
  • Tardis number on the list
  • Tardis Nickname (and being able to set it
  • Page number (if you're only looking at one Tardis

For the temporal time disturber, maybe the model could be the 10th doctor's Hand jar, which was already in the 1.7.10 version of the mod. Captain Jack used it in 'Utopia' to track the Doctor's Tardis. It bubbled like crazy whenever the Doctor or his Tardis is in the vicinity.

As the hand jar was a decoration block in Update 39 for 1.7.10 maybe it has a idle bubbling sound effect when the jar is placed in block form and a more agitated bubbling sound when a Tardis is detected to be materialising nearby( about 20 block radius around the hand) . In the show it was only a indicator for the user and not a compass-like device. Finally the detection radius could be a config option, so on servers the hand wouldn't go off all the time. (E.g Spawn, where Tardises frequently land and in a cluster too.)

Will format this better later.

Updated to include the Tardis Wall Panel changes I mentioned.

Suggestion can it be able to add a tardis scanner ish that locates all of your companions that have been in your tardis then you can track them and kinda like fly the tardis to them but the map is kinda like Dynmap if you know what Dynmap is

Well, this suggestion is mainly about tracking Tardises themselves, but I do have something similar in a WIP stage over in this thread if you'd like to combine a few ideas
