[Dalek Mod Suggestion] Paradise Towers [Structure, or a massive dimension]

Yesterday I saw Paradise Towers. It was a really interesting episode IMO. It's the one where the Cleaners come from in case you didn't know.

It had some really interesting background to it and an interesting situation. I also felt it would be a pretty cool place to explore in a Doctor Who Mod. Seeing as SWD already has Cleaners, I guess I'll suggest it here.

The Lore of Paradise Towers:

For those of you who don't watch the Doctor before his 9th incarnation or those who just have never seen Paradise Towers, I'll provide a brief overview of the background.

So, Paradise Towers is a luxury residential building complex in the 21st Century.

The guy who made the towers, he was a genius. Paradise Towers achieved so many awards. The problem; however, was that he didn't want anyone to move in and spoil his work, and he refused to leave the place. He was so determined at this, he was prepared to kill to achieve this goal. Well, he got to stay.... The people who moved in decided to lock him away in the basement.

At some point, a war broke out.

The young and the Old were moved to Paradise Towers and those who fell in the middle were shipped off for war.

They never did come back.

Time passed and things changed.

And it was not all for the best.

Many places in Paradise Towers fell into disrepair

and the people became separated.

There were the Kangs (Blue, Yellow (dead), and red), the Caretakers, and the old ones (aka the Rezzies (short for Residents I assume)).

None of them trusted eachother and none of them got along.

All the meanwhile, the cleaners, which were made to help maintain the facility and later used by the caretakers, began to act very oddly. They started attacking the caretakers at some point, something they wren't supposed to do.

I'll get into more lore a bit later.

Mobs:

 Blue Kang

As seen in: Paradise Towers

Spawning: Blue Kang base or halls within the vicinity of the Blue Kang Base (Only spawns when the structure is first generated if Paradise Towers is a Generated structure rather than a dimension)

Red Kang

As seen in: Paradise Towers

Spawning: Red Kang base or halls within the vicinity of the Red Kang Base (Only spawns when the structure is first generated if Paradise Towers is a Generated structure rather than a dimension)

Type: Undecided at the moment

Rezzie

As seen in: Paradise Towers

Spawning: Residential Quarters or the hall just outside her Residential Quarters (Only spawns when the structure is first generated if Paradise Towers is a Generated structure rather than a dimension)

Type: Some will be Passive. Some will be hostile. I'm still working on their attack behavior

Caretaker

As seen in: Paradise Towers

Spawning: In the halls;perhaps when the structure is first generated, they will be near their Headquarters, or "Brainquarters" as the Kangs put it

Type: Undecided. I'm going for either Hostile or Neutral with certain anger triggers

Inbetween (Based on Pex)

As seen in: Paradise Towers

Spawning: Completely Random

Type: Friendly/Helpful

Cleaners (Already in the mod)

As seen in: Paradise Towers

Spawning: They spawn in the Hallways

Type: Hostile

Behavior:

  • They will attack anything. Even the Caretakers (not all the time though. I'm thinking of how that will work)
  • They roam the halls when they are not targeting a mob, looking for things to kill

Attacks: Melee and Poison Gas

Aquatic Cleaner Variant

As seen in: Paradise Towers

Spawning: It spawns in aquatic areas, namely pools and such.

Type: Hostile

Blocks:

Vending Machine

Wall-Scrawl

  • When placed it picks a random wallscrawl, either original or from the show. It also has various sizes. In short, it works like a painting

Paradise towers as a structure (Option 1):

  • Paradise Towers may Generate randomly as a structure in the Overworld
  • It is a HUGE building, reflecting the actual structure from the show. The one in the show had 304 floors and who knows how many acres it covered. Of course, it doesn't need to be that big
  • It will also be a rare building.
  • It will always have exactly one of each of the following:
    • Red Kang Base (I'll find an image showing more of the base soon. This is just part of it)
  •
  • Blue Kang Base
    • Yellow Kang Base (abandoned)
    • Basement
    • Highest level (with the pool)
    • Caretaker Headquarters
  • Additionally it will have a number of
    • Resident Rooms
    • At least one elevator
    • Hallways
    • Open Spaces
    • Rooms of various purposes
  • There will be some way to stop Cleaners from spawning. That way the player can repurpose the building for his or her own reasons if he or she chooses.

Pros:

  • Allows the player to have a pretty sweet place if he or she Cleans out the Cleaners
  • Sticks to the show's canon in that there's one of each Kang base and whatnot while at the same time allowing for the experience to be gone through again in that there will be more than one in the Overworld
  • Option 2's griefing problem does not apply here

Cons:

  • Only that the size of the structure could possibly be limited

Paradise towers as a dimension With Set Boundaries (Option 2):

  • Instead of being an overworld structure, Paradise Towers can be it's own dimension. Basically, it's the same as version one, just that the structure exists in another dimension and is much closer to an estimate of the size of the building in the show.
  • It would also have world borders, kind of like the Pocket Edition Dimension

Pros:

  • Allows for a size closer to the televised version
  • Keeps it realistic

Cons:

  • If one player griefs the place up, no one can use it

Post got cut, see further below

I like this. But as a third option, I was thinking it to randomly spawn like you suggested but can also be spawned in expensively.

good job Arcpheonix, this is a post well done.

Paradise towers as a dimension Alt (Option 3):

  • It's a bit like a combination of 1 and 2. Paradise Towers is an endless dimension that is entirely a generated structure.
  • There can be any number of Blue Kang, Red Kang, or Caretaker bases and whatnot.
  • There is no end to Paradise towers, just more and more randomly generated rooms as you go.
  • The highest level has pavillions and pools. The lowest has the basement
  • I forgot some of the other details

Pros:

  • I honestly can't remember atm

Cons:

  • I honestly can't remember atm

Unfortunately, the post was cut here due to some bug. Unfortunately, I can't really remember what else I had typed under Option 3

 You mean the first option?
