[Dalek Mod Suggestion] Fob Watch and Chameleon Arch- Become a Time Lord or a Human [New Block and Item/New Features]

Feature: Fob Watch

As Seen in: Utopia, Family of Blood, and Human Nature

Function: In the show, the Fob Watch Stores the Essence of a Time Lord. I suggest that it should be able to do the same thing in the mod.

A good purpose of this block: In the show, for a Tardis to be able to time travel safely, it must have been primed with the Symbiotic Nuclei of a Time Lord at some point. I feel that this could be implemented into the mod. In order for a Tardis to be able to time Travel (space travel will be able to be done by anyone), the Tardis will have to have been flown by a Time Lord at least once. But how does one become a Time Lord? With a Fob watch.

Use: When the player first finds a Fob watch, using it will turn the player into a Time Lord. (More details will be later in this suggestion) The Fob watch can also be placed in a Chameleon Arch to allow transformation back into a human (details on the Chameleon Arch later in this Suggestion).

A note about finding a fob watch for the first time- It will give the player between 0-12 regenerations, higher numbers being increasingly rare (And not in a linear pattern).

Obtaining: Can be found in the Overworld in village chests sometimes, dungeons, and perhaps also in Nether forts and abandoned Mineshafts.

Feature: Chameleon Arch  (I'm unsure whether the third image is official or not)

Use: Right Clicking on this block with an empty Fob watch in your hand will place the watch in the Arch. Right Clicking the Arch (but not on the watch placed in the arc) will put the player under it and transform him/her into a human. Alternately, clicking the Arch on the watch will take it back.

After transformation, right clicking on the Arch will put the Fob watch into the player's inventory, now with the Essence of a Time Lord inside.

Obtaining: Craft titanium ingots in a helmet shape with a diamond just above the helmet shape in the grid.

Aesthetics: When opened for the first time, a Fob Watch will make some whispering noises. This is meant to be the memories of whatever Time Lord owned it originally (This was suggested by BellatorHD)

Additionally, a golden light will emit from the watch whenever it's used

Other stuff: When used, it will  hurt the player like it hurt the Tenth Doctor. Not fatally though.

Benefits of Being a Time Lord (These are all actually in the canon by the way):

  • Hunger Decreases at a much slower Rate
  • The player can prime a new Tardis so that it will gain the ability to time travel
  • The player will be able to regenerate (Thread on Regeneration linked at the end of this suggestion)
  • Aesthetics
    • The health Bar will be redone too where there will be a second heart slightly shifted up and to the right below each heart on the health bar as a reference to a Time Lord's Binary Vascular System (two heartedness)
      • This is only Aesthetic. It does not mean the player has twice as much health
  • Increased Senses
    • When in the dark, things are a bit brighter
    • The "FOV" Allows for much greater distance of sight (if it can be tweaked)
    • The player will be able to hear things farther away
  • Increased Physical Abilities
    • Fall Damage is greatly reduced (depending on how far you're falling from)
    • The player will be able to move slightly faster than a normal player
    • The Player will have increased Breathing Time under water
    • The player will be able to swim a bit faster
    • Time Lords will be a bit stronget than humans (+1 half a heart of damage for any melee attack)
  • Time Lords take much less damage from electrical attacks than humans would
  • Time Lords can use Chocolate and Chocolate Cake  to cure Aspirin or Spider Poisoning
  • Role Play accuracy I guess?

Benefits of being a Human

  • Role Play accuracy I guess?
  • Not having to change like a Time Lord upon Death
  • Positive potions last longer on humans or are stronger in the case of level 2 potions (something in the Gallifreyan Immune system tends to decrease the length of potion effects)

  • Humans can take asprin without any negative effects
  • Humans can use beds any night. Time Lords can not. (I'm thinking of how this will work in multiplayer. I may scrap the idea)
  • Humans have better luck (I may scrap this one)
    • Drop chances of some items may be less for time lords than for humans
    • Humans are more likely to get better enchantments from an enchantment table than Time Lords
    • The chances of the Enchantment Unbreaking will not take a piece of durability each time Unbreaking is in effect will be higher than for Time Lords
    • Humans are better at "human interaction" (Time Lords have to pay higher prices in villager trades) (Inspired from an idea by Geronimo_Guy)
    • Humans are quicker at fishing and have better luck at it (Suggested by Geronimo Guy)
  • Mobs will go towards Time Lords from a greater distance, Humans have a lower detectibility radius (this is inversed for some mobs)
  • The player will not be chased by The Family of Blood (if added)
  • I'll take suggestions

Any other information: All players will start out as humans but will be able to become Time Lords

For more details on Time Lord Regeneration, see this thread here:

[Dalek Mod Suggestion] Regeneration (my version) [New Feature]

Variations on this Suggestion:

  • [Dalek Mod Suggestion] Fob Watch/Chameleon Arch
    • This is a thread by Ford_Pines, who takes a different spin on the topic. In contrast to physical differences between humans and Time Lords, his thread focuses more on the loss of memory aspect.
  • TimeLord Mode
    • This is a thread by Pro_Cake_Man. Rather than having any sort of Fob Watch or whatnot, his thread suggests a mode where you can start out as a Time Lord. It's like Hardcore Mode of Vanilla Minecraft, just with 13 lives instead of just one. It's an interesting version if I may say so myself.

I'm considering a way of crafting the Fob Watch, but Idk the recipe atm. There would have to be a really special item in the recipe for it to be craftable  IMO.

Fantastic idea! I think that for the regeneration effect there should be a folder in the mod which you may copy your skins into. But I also think there should be a small chance of a regeneration backfire, but what do you think?

as for the regeneration, I can list many regenerations appearances

the explosion. (Recent regenerations)

the watcher (turns into a white creature before the appearance is finalised)

white light (a white glow envelops the area and the time lord changes)

the swirl (the features swirl and develop new features)

the morph (the body painfully contorts into a new form as electricity envelopes them)

the blur (just a blur and the time lords new appearance forms)

the slow explosion (a more slowed down version of the regeneration)

I actually have a few ideas for regeneration a lot like you said, but the idea I have isn't really done yet. I'm considering asking Quartz563 if we can combine  a few ideas though https://swdteam.co.uk/forum?p=thread&tid=504

Will be really cool for Dalek Mod Adventure Maps too!

when you regenerate it should kill you and when your a timelord you respawn in the tardis and when it kills you at regeneration you respawn with all the new stuff and when your regenerating you should have an animation with particles befor death and then the changed apearance after death depending on how many skins you used when you use up all 13 i guess we can add more as more come in the tv show after all 13 you die and cant respawn for 5 mins or you have the choice of wiping memory (invantory) and you respawn back as human and start all over again but their is a strange mob fallowing you after you change back like in the show when clara stalks the doctor

Sounds cool but could you add some formatting

Idk... It would be cool as an addon, but if all this inventory stuff was a thing, I think I'd just stay human. As for the mob.. Well, it seems too easy of a way to get a companion IMO.

As for regenerations, the player should only be able to regenerate 12 times (13 bodies). The Doctor and the Master gained second cycles through unnatural means.

As for the Particles,  yes. I'll definitely add it

By the way. I think I'll move Regeneration to it's own thread.

i got this to https://swdteam.co.uk/forum?p=thread&tid=129&page=8#t_post_id_3663

What if you can make a fob watch block that will help u make the fob watch?

I think I'm going to make a few change to this suggestion.

I've been trying to think of ways to get a second regeneration cycle, and I'm thinking it would involve fob watches.

I just need to think of some good limit system so that getting cycles is possible but difficult/time consuming enough to where it won't be easy to be going around with +50 backup regenerations on hand
