[DMU Public] Server suggestions Compliation [Interior forcefields, more]

So as everyone knows the DMU public server faces a lot of problems. There are many griefers who bridge their way to interiors, structures being torn down every day and the many users who complain.

?

?

I've made a compliation of ideas from various users (which I will credit) that could be implemented into the server.

?

?

Suggestions:

?

  1. Bringing back the Tardis Forcefields
  2. Tardis interior forcefield
  3. Tardis-proofing systems
  4. Anti-grief system
  5. Tardis scanner ( separate block from Tardis flight panel)
  6. Implentation of Zeiton-7 ore spawning
  7. Waypoints for the Tardis

?

?

I:Bringing back Tardis Forcefields

?

?As you know, the new Tardis exterior permissions system is working really well, but there have been multiple cases of players entering another's Tardis because of a slight lag spike which leaves a Tardis door open. If the Tardis forcefield could be ported up and maybe improved, this will stop sneaky noobs trying to enter another's Tardis.

?

?

?

Additionally it will greatly benefit players who do not have a Tardis flight panel to see their surroundings before they exit.

?

?

?

?

My suggestion is quite long so please view it here. It would require an Extrapolator shard, Zeiton-7 and a Tardis fuel panel to work.

?

?

?

II: Tardis Interior Forcefields

?

?As many know, there are griefers on the public server who bridge their way to various Tardis interiors to steal and grief other users' interiors. There have been several suggestions for this, such as ArcPhoenix's randomly generating interiors? and other users' Bedrock grid suggestions. I propose a unique idea and possible solution to this issue,

?Name of system:??Tardis interior forcefields with Whitelist

Description: ?I was looking at how Tardis Forcefields in Update 39 works and thought if that could be implemented for each users' Tardis interior as well, with some changes.

?

The interior will have a grey-tinted forcefield similar to the U39 coming from the centre of the interior, extending outwards in a 50 to 100 block-radius circle. (exact dimensions to be decided by SWD)

?

  • This forcefield will push anyone who isn't a companion/owner outside of the forcefield should they attempt to enter it by bridging.
  • The intruder will not be able to place any blocks nor break them inside the forcefield whilst on the outside. They cannot also interact with any blocks that have a right-click function inside the forcefield
  • Any creative players (SWDBae/Donator) with world edit also can't alter the blocks inside the forcefield nor enter it
  • Only admins and moderators can enter another user's Tardis interior.
  • From the outside: it will be slightly grey (Maybe #B0B0B0)
  • On the inside, the owner of the Tardis will not be able to see the forcefield, it is transparent.
  • When an intruder attempts to enter the interior, the owner will receive an in-chat warning
    • "[Player Name] is attempting to access your Tardis interior at [x] [y] [z]."
  • This forcefield will also prevent any Tardises/players from teleporting/flying to an interior's exact coordinates, the forcefield will teleport them above the interior instead

?

?

?

?Lore/Brief Background (Or "As seen in" if not from Doctor Who canon):?Parting of Ways, Dalek Mod Update 39 for 1.7.10

?How do you suggest we implement it: ?

  • It will respond to Tardis permissions (who is the owner, companion etc.)
  • When an intruder attempts to enter the interior, the owner will receive an in-chat warning
    • "[Player Name] is attempting to access your Tardis interior at [x] [y] [z]."
  • The permissions system will check any Tardises/players that are requesting to teleport inside the forcefield and attempt to match it to the list of authorised users on the whitelist.

?

Why should this be implemented:?To prevent intruders from entering and griefing other users' interiors from the Tardis dimension, and reduce lag that will be present with large barrier blocks around the several hundred or so Tardis interiors.

III: Anti-Tardis and Anti-grief Forcefields for Builds/ Builds Permissions System

?

I thought, since forcefields can be used to effectively reduce greifing cases, why not stop at Tardises, this could apply to builds in the Overworld etc.

?

Username:?50ap5ud5

?Name of system:? Anti-Tardis and Anti-grief Forcefields for Builds with Builds permissions system

?Description: ?Mostly same as above, with some alterations.

?

The interior will have a grey-tinted forcefield similar to the U39 coming from the centre of the build, extending outwards in a 50 to 100 block-radius circle, covering top, bottom, left and right. (exact dimensions to be decided by SWD)

?

  • This forcefield will push anyone who isn't an authorised personell/owner outside of the forcefield should they attempt to enter it by bridging/ breaking blocks
  • The intruder will not be able to place any blocks nor break them inside the forcefield whilst on the outside.
  • Any creative players (SWDBae/Donator) with world edit also can't alter the blocks inside the forcefield nor enter it. They cannot also interact with any blocks that have a right-click function inside the forcefield.
  • Any animals/mobs inside cannot break any blocks, should a hostile mob like a Creeper spawn IN the build
  • Any blocks( including partially covered ones) will be immune to any external/internal explosions.
  • Only admins and moderators can enter another user's build.
  • From the outside: it will be slightly grey (Maybe #B0B0B0)
  • On the inside, the owner of the build will not be able to see the forcefield, it is transparent.
  • When an intruder attempts to enter the interior, the owner will receive an in-chat warning
    • "[Player Name] is attempting to access your Tardis interior at [x] [y] [z]."
  • This forcefield will also prevent any Tardises/players from teleporting/flying to an interior's exact coordinates, the forcefield will teleport them above the interior instead, including those with Tardis flight panels and users trying to land their Tardis with the build's exact coordinates.

?

?Lore/Brief Background (Or "As seen in" if not from Doctor Who canon):?Parting of Ways, Dalek Mod Update 39 for 1.7.10

?How do you suggest we implement it: ?

  • It will respond to a permissions system similar to the Tardis permissions (who is the owner, authorised personell etc.)
  • Only moderators and admins may set these Forcefields (radius size can be adjusted) and remove them. A set of 4 commands can be used.
  • The permissions system will check any Tardises/players that are requesting to teleport inside the forcefield and attempt to match it to the list of authorised users on the whitelist.

?

/build-set forcefield [x] [y] [z] [radius size]?

?

Admin only. Adds a forcefield around a building. To allow the owner of the building (not forcefield) they must do the ownership command below.

?

?

/build-remove forcefield [x] [y] [z] [radius size] [Dimension]

?

Admin only. Removes a forcefield around a building.

?

/builds-users add [Username]????

?

All users may use this. Adds users who are allowed to enter the owner's build

?

?

/builds-users remove [Username]?

II: Server Not-to-do list (Idea by ArcPhoenix)

They should have a "things not to do, so it will be less work on us" section on the rule board or something.

I dunno.

Name of system: Server Not-to-do list

Description: A kind of list of basic things that, if read, would prevent many of these problems from happening.

  • A "Don't do list" (so admins will have less work/stress) section on the rule board or something.

And if someone doesn't read it, the admins would put more serious issues first.

Just a passing idea I had.

It would have things like...

  1. If you use the 80s exterior, know that your Tardis is vulnerable to being raided.

  2. "I lost my Tardis"

    1. Know that any Tardis you step into syncs to you.
      • This means your key won't summon the Tardis you had synched before
      • The Tardis Wall panel won't work right (I think?)
    2. Buy a Tardis key and you can summon it
    3. Buy a Wall Panel and you can view your exterior coordinates.
    4. Do /warp shop

  3. "Credits don't drop"

    They do, just keep trying.

  4. "How do I craft a [filler]"

(Hyperlink to the SWD video (if adding a hyperlink to a post is possible))
    Or
"See Tumblr_Cat's thread in the SWD Forums under (Dalek Mod Public Universe)"
  5. ALWAYS write down your Tardis interior coordinates
    1. In case one's Tardis is lost, it will be alot easier for admins to find, as they don't have to blindly fly around the Tardis dimension

/build-remove forcefield [x] [y] [z] [radius size] [Dimension]

Admin only. Removes a forcefield around a building.

/builds-ownership [Username]

Transfers ownership of a building to another user. You will no longer be able to access this building.

/builds-users add [Username]

All users may use this. Adds users who are allowed to enter the owner's build

/builds-users remove [Username]

All users may use this. Removes users who are allowed to enter the owner's build

/builds-users view

All users may use this. Brings up a GUI very similar to the "list players online" GUI and shows users who are allowed to enter the owner's build by Username and head image. ( This could be added to the Tardis permissions system, I will add this to a separate suggestion)

 /builds-perms [none/users/all]

All users may use this. This is similar to how the Tardis permissions system works, it allows the forcefield permissions to either let only the owner in (none), white listed users (users) and making it available for everyone(all). The forcefield won't allow anyone to break/replace blocks if they are inside so if a building is made public it can't be griefed anyways.

 /builds-stats [x] [y] [z]

  •  When an intruder attempts to enter the build, the owner will receive an in-chat warning
    • "[Player Name] is attempting to access your build at [x] [y] [z] in [Dimension/Timezone]."

Why should this be implemented: To prevent intruders from entering and griefing other users' builds from any dimension, and reduce lag that will be present with large barrier blocks around the several hundred or so builds.

V: Teleportation-proof blocks

Username: 50ap5ud5

Name of Block/item: Tardis-proof blocks

Function: A block which placed down, does not any player or Tardis to land on that particular block.

Purpose: If somehow an intruder has broken his/her way past the forcefield around a build/ Tardis interior and learnt the exact coords, they cannot land on these blocks, particularly if the owner has covered much of their build with these blocks.

These blocks can have a default white texture or have a texture that can be chosen from a GUI

Why should this be implemented: To prevent intruders from entering and griefing other users' builds from any dimension, and reduce lag that will be present with large barrier blocks around the several hundred or so builds.

How do you suggest we implement it: This block when initially placed will be white block with multi-coloured specks, like a TCN loader block. A GUI will be brought up when the player right-clicks with the block in hand and not targeting a player/block. It will show all available textures a player can disguise the block as, including all Building Blocks and Decoration blocks ( except smaller blocks like Lilypads, vines, ladders, redstone, torches etc.)

Post was cut off once again. It will continue from here.

VI: Tardis scanner ( separate from Tardis flight panel) [GUI not block]

A lot of users have been asking for a Tardis scanner block that can view that outside without having to use the Tardis flight panel. This is my version of the idea:

Username: 50ap5ud5

Name of system: Tardis-scanner

Purpose: Allows any user to view the exterior and a 3600 view of their surroundings without having to use a Tardis flight panel.

How do you suggest we implement it: It will bring up the same GUI as the Tardis flight panel, with a slightly zoomed-out view of the Tardis exterior, all flight features will be disabled.

Instead of a separate block that will require the Team to model and code, a new button on the existing Tardis monitor GUI will show "Scanner" which when pressed brings the user to the scanner GUI.

Why should this be implemented: To allow users to view the outside without obatining a separate Tardis flight panel. It will also be more convenient for Donators/ Admins etc. to view the outside of their Tardis without having to fetch the flight panel from the creative inventory.

Image(rough sketch/draft acceptable):

Any other information: [Addition by ArcPhoenix] The border of the usual flight panel GUI will not show.

VII: Saving Waypoints (suggested by Kryon13) (From ArcPhoenix's Post here)

Feature: Bookmaked Locations or "Waypoints"

Function: In short, the player will be able to save a location (coordinates and dimension) to a list in the Tardis monitor (preferably with a search-and-sort system that also allows a user to create category folders or create tags for certain bookmarked locations so that he or she will be able to find them easily

Purpose: To allow a user to return to places easily.

Config: There will be a config that disallows or allows this function. Mainly as a way to make repeated griefing a bit more difficult (because I know this wouldn't stop it of course) and also to add a bit more adventure/difficulty if the player or a server owner wishes to have it.

I like it. I have another suggestion too for the force-fields. I think I once suggested some sort of Temporal Grace circuit somewhere that can allow someone inside your Tardis to keep people from breaking/placing blocks (but still allowing you to travel with them) somewhere.

If I can find it, I'll comment a link

Anti Tardis Fields? I was thinking of suggesting it once, but you beat me to it. XD

The canon equivalent by the way would be a Time-Lock

 Three things by the way:

1) Maybe there can be a config that disables/enables the ability to use Anti-Griefing Overworld Blocks. (For pvp or just basic survival gameplay purposes, you know?)

 2) maybe there can be a way to set anyone (or only certain people) to be able to enter a protected area but not make changes to it.

  • This could be useful for spawn, any RP Server Group's structure, and anything users make that they want to be able to be visited by other players (but still protected)

UPDATE: Damn, I can no longer edit the main post due to the freezing bug. ;_;

I have however, managed to merge Part 1 and 2 togethor without the cut-off bug happening. :D

Hey 50ap, the cut-off bug happened

Oh, great. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll try and get that fixed.

EDIT: Fixed. Luckily I had  a spare comment underneath the main post which I could use.

Thanks. I always write up my drafts on Onenote then copy it over to the forums. Due to the wierd indenting Onenote has it looks unusual when displayed here.
