[Forums Suggestion] Forums Thread Tags and Searching for Key Words [Forums]

Feature 1:

Post Tagging

Description of Feature:

A tagging feature in which one can tag a post with a relevant topic.

What is the purpose of this:

  1. Organization
  2. The Team can find specific posts on specific Topics quicker and easier
  3. It will be easier for people to make sure they aren't reposting something if they can look through suggestions by related topic
  4. It will make it easier to find posts

How do you suggest we implement it in the forums:

The team can add in a "Tags" button in the Thread Editor. THis Tags button would open a checklist that would allow a user to mark the relevant topics for his or her thread.

With this version, a filter can be added to the suggestions area so people can look for posts with specific tags

    • Threads only
    • Both
  • Results Options
    • Do not show locked threads

What is the purpose of this:

  1. Organization
  2. The Team can find specific posts on specific Topics quicker and easier
  3. It will be easier for people to make sure they aren't reposting something if they can look through suggestions by related topic
  4. A user can help himself or herself faster if he or she can find a related problem (if dealing with a crash/bug)
  5. Usually, the thing about preventing duplicate posts is "just look around the forums," but over time, the forums have REALLY grown a lot. Being able to tag and search within specific topics would really help users see if there are any related threads

How do you suggest we implement it in the forums:

A new user interface and search button. It's a bit like what's in Minecraft Forums.

Feature 3: Crash Machine

  Description of Feature:

The crash machine would be a sort of in-forum program accessible through the "Bug Reports" Sections.

When the player opens this machine, and  paste his or her crash log into it and give the machine a proposed thread title.

The machine, will go through the user's post, picking out mod names and lines mentioning errors.

The machine will then search the bugs section for threads with similar lines, using a filter to ignore anything that's going just fine in the user's mods,

Using the way crash log threads are mostly structured the same, the machine will then return an interface with 2 buttons to toggle between posts by "title" and by "crash log", They will be ranked in order of relevance to the user's problem.

Decription for Feature:

Did a mod Crash on you? Try the Crash machine. You may find that someone else may have already had this issue once

Any other information:

This would be possible to make and would help may users as well as saving a bit of forum space; however, I do also see that it may not be too easy to code.

Other stuff:

I'd like to throw in a mention to Cyberleader_11's Subcategories suggestion. It's a pretty great alternative IMO
