In this thread we're going to give a brief overview of some of the things we have planned for the Dalek Mod over the next few updates. We wont be giving away information on everything as some things we would like to still keep as a surprise, but we will talk about some of the key changes.
The current Tardis flight system is alright, but admittedly very basic. Some users like that it's easy to use, however some users prefer the thought of more in-depth flight controls. Therefore starting with the last few 1.12 updates we will be introducing more advanced controls for the Tardis. Randomised coordinate selectors, dedicated panels for updating location, coordinates, landing offsets, directions etc. As well as this we will also revisit an older feature to allow the Tardis to enter a crash landing mode in which the Tardis will lock on to the nearest location and land in a sea of sparks, fire and explosions!
There will be more additions to the flight system, however more details on these will be announced at a later date.
Currently there are a lot of different styled models in the mod, made by various asset creators over the years. Some of them are still the original models that were added back in 2013 in some of the very first updates.
After a lot of discussion we have decided that we will be updating a majority of the models, all of which will be made by our group of asset creators. The aim is to try and make the models fit more with the game. A lot of the models we currently have were made with far too much detail and as a result feel a little out of place when placed next to default MC models. The newer models will aim to be simplified a lot more and keep in with the voxel MC style.
We have decided that with the update to 1.15 fast approaching that we would update / replace a majority of the Tardis interiors. Of course still keeping the legacy "Dalek Mod 2013 / 2014" interiors for nostalgia purposes. However a lot of the other interiors we feel could be improved and made more accurate. Also ensuring that all interiors have the basic controls needed to fly it and that everything is clear and easy to find. (This is something which is an issue at the moment)
Our interiors are built by our asset creators as well as members of our amazing community, who always pay close attention to details and replicate it as best they can using the limitations of the game.
There is currently a lot of unused content in the mod, some of which is content which had started being developed only to be forgotten about, or content which was added for a purpose years ago but is no longer in use.
We have recently been removing a lot of this content, however with the 1.15 update the final bits will be fully removed.
Finally, we plan on fully releasing our model exporter with an in-depth guide on how to use it to our community. We worked hard putting this model system together to allow the community to make creative resource packs, where they can replace Tardis models, the Dalek models and any other models they want!
The older system did not allow this as all models were hard-coded into the mod, therefore only textures could be changed. However the MDLV3 system allows everything to be easily changed.
With the 1.15 update we plan for all models to be on the MDLV3 system, completely removing the older MDLV2 type models.
Let us know below and we will do our best to answer it for you!
Will the Dalek Skins/model's you can wear come back? or is that one of the removed features
That's very nice, I hope this is coming soon!

That is something which will be updated. There has been talk of it recently
Regarding the unused items, will this include the custom DM elytras?
Regarding the unused items, will this include the custom DM elytras?
Possibly, or we will fix them so that they work
what do you mean 1.15 update?
We will be updating the mod from Minecraft 1.12.2 to Minecraft 1.15
Regarding flight mechanics in a way, would the the tardis now have some required components or procedures to take off now. An example being Fluid Links and Dematerialization circuits for components, Locking down the tardis, activating helmic regulator and coordinating the zig zag plotter for procedures
I like the detailed models, they are my favorite! can you please keep them?
i can't wait for the 1.15 update. it's going to be amazing. 1 thing i would love to suggest. for regeneration. can you like add the other styles of regeneration. like the Hartnell regeneration where you are laying down. the tom baker regeneration. and even maybe 12th's regeneration style. where the regeneration energy is all HD. if you put it that way. also I am So glad that the TARDIS. will now have better flight. where you can. again just a suggestion. like fly the tardis manually and have to hit certain controls to land. i love that feature is coming to dalek mod. Keep up the great work SWDteam. and has always. Geronimo!!!!!!

This is unlikely due to the content of what was teased. By "Advanced" it seems they meant more refined controls for travel. (Like the randomizer) Although it's not impossible, I don't see it as likely. Realism isn't always what you want, especially in Minecraft.

The point of the mod is to add a Doctor Who experience to the already existing game, matching it's style.
The high detail models, while cool looking, ultimately don't fit with the Minecraft style and feel like they belong in another game.
On DMU, how will the change in flight system work for those who already have a TARDIS?
Will the exteriors still be accurate to the show while retaining the Voxel style like the new classic exteriors?
Can we expect a beta release within the next 6 months?
