[Dalek Mod Suggestion Compilation] Abilities of the Tardis (mainly in flight ATM)... Title is a work in Progress [Tardis Improvements]

Tardis Suggestions Series: Part 12- Tardis Abilities

Flight

Ability 1- Flying through Portals (Whovian4EverAlex)

Ability 2- Tardis Ramming

Feature"Car Fu," as TV Tropes puts it, for Tardises

 .

Description of Feature Being hit by a speeding vehicle is never a comfortable experience. Nor should it be one for any Daleks in the way of your flying. I am suggesting a Tardises to cause damage whenever they hit mobs when moving above a certain speed. The damage and knockback increase as the speed of the Tardis increases

.

How do you suggest we implement it in game: Basically what I said in the description and perhaps by adding an offensive hitbox in front of and behind the Tardis that activates after reaching a certain speed.

Any other Information:

Other Blocks affected (When moving at high speeds):

  • Any Kind of crop -> will drop as an item
  • Wood -> Will drop as an item (Tardises usually plow right through wood
  • Wood Planks -> Will Drop as an item (Will cause vehicle to halt upon impact)
  • Cobweb -> Will not drop as an item
  • Glass -> Shatters if not the reinforced kind (Reinforced Glass is a suggestion I'll make very soon)

Mob drops will be treated as a death by:

  • I'm not sure atm. Drops in minecraft usually differ whether the mob was killed by A) Player, B) Tamed Wolf, or C) Outside Cause.

Balancing stuff:

Whether Vehicles can or can't Ram players is toggle-able via a config file or a gamerule.

The Suggested command

/VehicleRamming <Tardis/Bessie> <Players/any mob name/all Mobs> <true/false>

Feature 3- Tardis Drift

Feature: Tardis Drifting Mechanic

Explanation of Mechanic:

  • While using the flight panel, a certain key can be pressed to put the Tardis into Drift mode.
  • In drift mode, the Tardis will retain the same speed and direction it was going in before drift mode was set.
  • Additionally, the player will be free to move around the inside of his or her Tardis in Drift mode
  • If the Tardis hits anything, passes through a fluid, or is hit by something, it may change speed and direction.
    • Typically if this happens, a sound will be heard from inside the Tardis

Purpose of this feature: It allows a player to be more flexible while maneuvering a Tardis

Feature 4- Locking Tardis Rotation (I'll also have something for speeding it up or slowing it down if I can think of it)

Feature: Tardis Drifting Mechanic

Explanation of Mechanic:

  • While in the Tardis, a certain key can be pressed which will lock the Tardis in rotation and also unlock it. You do not have to be at a lever or panel to do this
  • While this is in effect, the Tardis's rotation will be locked so that the doors stay facing the same direction
  • It is toggles off with the same Key bind

Purpose of this feature: It allows a player to be more flexible while manoeuvring a Tardis, and it would also perhaps help a player in various situations.

Video: Seen when the Doctor is holding the doors open and speaking to Donna towards the end

Feature Suggestion  5-  Haywire/Uncontrolled Flight (Suggested by BellatorHD)

Feature: A certain Keybind that can be pressed during flight which will make the Tardis very difficult to control in flight, and it will cause a number of Handling (in terms of a vehicle) and flight troubles

Aesthetics: The Tardis (and perhaps Console, if a modeled one) will give off steam and smoke while in Haywire/Uncontrolled Flight

Feature Suggestion 6

Lock your Tardis, make sure the Daleks don't get in, bring your dogs and sheep for the ride

Feature: Tardises being a bit less cheap and being able to travel with animals if you'd like:

Description of feature:

Did you leave your door unlocked?

Players:

Any player, be they friends or enemies, may enter your Tardis if you leave the doors unlocked or do not close the doors fast enough while being pursued (This has happened loads of times on the show).

Tardis can be entered by mobs:

Some mobs may also enter the Tardis. Some, like sheep, require the doors to be open.

Some, like Cybermen, only require the doors to be unlocked. Villagers may also enter unlocked Tardises in the same way as a house, but normally only when running and without any other shelter.

So many races interested in Time Lord Technology.... Oh, and the Doctor:

Cybermen and Daleks, for whatever reason, seem to like to linger around Tardises if they find one (when they find one in a short radius, otherwise this would get ridiculous with 20 or so crowding around the Tardis). Cybermen and Daleks may also enter your Tardis (They, of course, can't pilot it, but would make a nasty surprise if the player forgot to lock his or her doors).

Maybe Chunks with Tardises can stay loaded, similar to how Chunks with Nether Portals stay Loaded in Vanilla

Any Other information:

Mobs That may enter an unlocked Tardis:

(To be added)

Mobs that may enter an open Tardis

(to be added)

Purposes: Making the game a bit more fun and unpredictable. It also allows a player to bring mobs into his or her Tardis. Thirdly, it adds a few optional things that make the mod a bit more "Who Like"

How Do you suggest we implement this Feature: Like I said above, and have Tardis doors have 4 options

  • Autolock- Whenever a player leaves and enters a Tardis, the door automatically closes and locks after entering exiting
  • Autoclose- The door always closes after players enter or exit but must be locked manually
  • All by hand- The door neither closes or locks on its own and must be done manually by players
  • By Lever- same as All by hand but with one difference. The Tardis door closes by a lever rather than by hand when you are closing the door from inside the Tardis

Feature Suggestion 7-  Entering the Tardis by having it Materialize around you

Suggested by: 5Syham100

As Seen in: Bad Wolf/Parting of the WaysThe Runaway Bride

Function: As the title implies, summoning a Tardis on the same block as a player or mob will transport him or her into the Tardis.

Uses: A quick getaway when in danger or just convenience

How should this be implemented?: When a Tardis Materializes, it  checks for mobs just before becoming solid. If any are present, they get transported into the interior.

Hazards: Obviously, there's a small chance this can lead to trouble. (ie: accidentally landing in the same spot a creeper occupies).

Any Other Information: I recommend having a toggle for this feature. It can perhaps use a filtering system similar to the permissions system.

  Feature Suggestion 8- Atmospheric Excitation

Suggested by: Arcphoenix

As Seen in: The Runaway Bride

Function: Pointing the Sonic Screwdriver at the Tardis Lamp from outside (for different Shells, it would be where the lamp would be), after setting some panel in the Tardis will launch a firework from the top of the Tardis, changing the weather to make it rain or snow.

Purpose: This would just be a really nice feature to have. To be able to make it snow.

Any Other Information: Like for Sonic Blasters, there would be an ability to disable this feature on servers (imagine someone spamming laggy rain!)

Interesting ideas, although do you have any details on the Taxi itself?

Got the idea when u travel you can find these Boneless creatures will make your tardis shrink as seen in

''Flatline''

after that happend the tardis might get in danger andu have to activate Siege Mode or you can activate it when you want your companion to carry you around to your base and choose where you should be and other stuff or you can go into siege mode in case you cant fly through specific rifts  then you can use your TARDIS to make it in Siege Mode and the Player can carry your Tardis with you inside through the rift after uve done that u can become normal again and save that rift location

by that danger thing like an enemy found your tardis and might wan to get in u can use siege mode to usefull stuff and when you are in Siege mode the chat will be removed so u can only chat with the players in the Tardis  not anyone from the outside unless he/she has the earpice thingy Clare got there

Not yet really ill think of something

I've thought about this in the past, although. I'm not sure this is the best way to do it.

The player may not have a companion for instance.

But ifit has it can or you can activate siege mode when you are outside with a special device and pick it up and deactivate it with the device

another one that there is a possibility that u can get picked uo by unit if needed as seen in ''the day of the doctor''

sry about the 3D clip that was the only clip i found...

I recommend making a thread on "random events" for the Unit Helicopter idea and Taxi Cab thing.

As for shrinking the Tardis, I'm going to be a bit busy studying this evening, but I'll be back later.

If you have any informattion on the device, I feel it would go well in this thread

You know, there is one thing I'm really noticing about this video, and that's that the Tardis can seem to fly without rotating (as seen when the Doctor is holding the doors open and speaking to Donna). I think I'll throw it in as a keybind in the suggestion

 open doors during flight?

You are flying , if you press M ( probaly the letter M ) will open the Doors and the entity ( companion/player) can come in .

isnt that kinda my suggestion too but idc really :P

add the other time zones and planet

make us able to access waypoint selection

bring back force field

be able to upgrade or some cases down grade the TARDIS interior from inside

the flight controls are accessed by the TARDIS monitor

a TARDIS weapon system this is a two part one, first lasers are reflected, second the TARDIS can do melee damage

TARDIS commands:

/Tardis summon.......... then the name of the TARDIS this teleports the  specific TARDIS to your current location

/Tardis regen............. when damaged the TARDIS will fix it-self and will place back every block even when you've customized your TARDIS it puts back the blocks you have used and the TARDIS doesn't reset

/Tardis reset................. this resets the TARDIS back to standard original state

/Tardis upgrade..........then the name or model of the TARDIS this then changes both inside and outside to look like the requested TARDIS

/Tardis scan.......then the chat will make a report of all near by mobs to your TARDIS's current location in a specific amount of area

/Tardis escape........this randomly teleports your TARDIS to a different time-zone, co-ordinates or planet

/Tardis bridge.........then player name in servers when In flight you can bridge to another person's TARDIS

/Tardis block........stops people bridging to your TARDIS when on server

/Tardis invisibility.........TARDIS invisible to mobs and on servers to other players for 25 seconds with a one minute cool down
