We're not updating right away. We don't like to update on the first few builds of a new version of forge, mainly because they are usually buggy. So we will wait until a good stable version of forge is out. Until then we will be staying on 1.8

do you think it will be quicker to update the mod than it was 1.7 --> 1.8?
