My first Youtube videos!

I recently started a Youtube channel

I plan on just making videos about DMU, so I don't think this is gonna grow too much xD

I need some opinion, constructive criticism is welcome.

Don't judge me too much though

Video (It's about the DMU Public spawn):

Lil suggestion (haven't watched it yet) edit the post > highlight the whole link >

copy it > highlight it again > click the little chain

on the tool bar > paste in the box that says link to make it a clickable link.

 Alright thanks!

This is a nice start for a youtube video,  I'm glad to see you are stepping up to take this challenge.

Might I suggest a few things though:

Main improvements:

Relevance of your annotations

The annotations for the most part were informative and well placed in the video, but the information could be condensed.

Explain the relevance of the feature you are showcasing.

E.g. What does Matt's role play in this server? Is he staff? Is he just a cow?

Why do I need to know this?

Some other information, like the screenshot below may not be relevant to what you are showcasing.

As a new viewer, alot of the information such as how to join the server, the specific names of server staff could be left in the description, as users who want to join DMU can come online and see these details for themselves.

Placement and use of links

Links are better off in the video description, as it easier to access than clicking an annotation.

Perhaps you could provide a brief description on the server, as "knowing doctor who" can be quite vague.

E.g. Is it a survival server? What is the mod used for the server? Where can I find out more?

You could give a better link, such as using the official server page: https://swdteam.com/DMU

The main website is about SWD as a whole and not about the server specifically, it can confuse people as it will take a while to find the server page.

Future considerations:

Create a more smooth camera shot

This is for future videos, but I recommend using a smooth camera mod like the Replay Mod, as you can pan around alot more easily and have a wider view.

This is a higher level, so take it easy and experiment around Just something you could keep in mind for future videos.

Inspiration from other similar videos

I recommend looking at other similar videos, as they can point out flaws in making such a video and allow you to get an idea of how to do one.

One example I recommend is WeirdoGaming/Flash's old Cinematic Spawn video:

Try comparing these two and see how much is improved. Perhaps you could apply them to your own :)

Conclusion:

Basically, it's just about looking at your video in a viewer's perspective.

Overall, a good start. I commend you on your bravery to make a video like this, as producing clear, well made videos are not easy.

I look forward to your future content. :)

Note:

These are just my thoughts, and you don't need to take action immediately.

If you are willing to produce better content, just take it easy, and experiment around with things.

Just don't be afraid of making more, people can give you feedback, which is a great learning experience

I'm making another video of the spawn. This video will have my voice (Through a filter, of course).

Why use a filter?

Why use a filter?

I feel too insecure to include my actual voice... but if none of the filters sound good, maybe I'll use my real voice after all...

Update: Second video coming tomorrow, editor being buggy

And what do you guys use for editing? I'm using Blender right now but it's not really targeted at editing

I record with Bandicam and edit with Sony Vegas Pro 13 which both cost money so

a free one is Windows Movie Maker for editing and OBS to record.

P.S. Thanks 50 for using my videos as an example xDD

I checked out Windows Movie Maker but it honestly is the bare minimum compared to Blender...

And OBS is good enough for me for now

I tried to remake the spawn video with my voice, but the audio and video are just so off sync... I give up at trying to edit it. Any help would be very appreciated...

I'll help you edit :D

You can send me the video file (and audio if its separate) and I can edit it with Sony Vegas.
