Gallifrey Lost [A Dalek Mod Suggestion]

**A lot of threads have been made about the topics that are in this one. Here’s my take on it. Also, I will be linking several threads made by other site users in this one, all are related to this suggestion in some way, and are great suggestions on their own. They all have contributed to the ideas mentioned here. Finally, this is based on my favorite episode of the new run of Doctor Who, so I have gone into quite a bit of detail. This is rather long…

(Also, all hopes of formatting this properly died a long time ago)

? It’s been mentioned a couple of times that the player should go to Gallifrey to obtain/borrow a TARDIS. My feelings on Gallifrey, however, is that it should be a very difficult dimension to get to, more of an end level dimension, not the first Dalek Mod dimension that the player can visit. I say this because in the show, for quite a while, Gallifrey is lost in Time and Space (until it comes back with virtually no explanation or real reason…sorry, I’ll get back on topic), and before that, it is not often visited by the Doctor. While I understand much of the practicality behind going to Gallifrey first, I still feel that it should be more of a difficult place to get to and a reward after spending much time searching for it.

—Now that that explanation is out of the way, here’s the suggestion —

? Let’s say that Gallifrey is lost, as in the new run of the show (up until the end of series 9 that is). When the player builds their TARDIS (shall we say that they get it this  way, or the current way is fine too, I guess…), and they open the TARDIS’s gui, one dimension will show a blacked out planet and have a series of question marks for its name. This planet is Gallifrey. The player needs to find a different way to Gallifrey before they can take the TARDIS there.

? To begin their ‘search’, the player needs to construct the confession dial (doctorwhofan111 has a rather similar suggestion to some of this, so an alternative idea can be found found here). I don’t have any ideas for an exact recipe, I am very open to suggestions here, but I feel that it should involve several rare items that can only be obtained by the player from other dimensions, either special ores that need to be mined (like titanium), or special bits of tech acquired as loot in dungeons (how about the spaceships mentioned in this thread). I also feel it should have a lot of clockwork in it. Once the dial is created, the player will need to place it in their TARDIS, and then can click on it to be “teleported” inside.

? The player is then transported to a new dimension, one that consists of an endless ocean, with a large castle that spawns at coordinates (0,0). The player will spawn inside this castle, which is very much like the one in Heaven Sent, in a room in the centre. The player can take whatever they want with them into the dial, but it wont do them much good, as they will be put into adventure mode while here. Food can be found in chests inside the castle, as well as other loot. When inside, they will be ever pursued by the Veil.

The Veil

Hostile Mob, only one spawns per world.

It will only spawn in the confession dial dimension, and there, only within the castle.

This mob is invulnerable, and moves at a slow pace. But, it is always following the player, no matter where the player is in the castle. It is also able to open doors.

It delivers a very high attack damage, killing the player in a single hit in all circumstances.

? While avoiding the Veil, the player must now accomplish a series tasks in order to escape to Gallifrey. First, they must find a wooden shovel. It will have an nbt tag allowing the player to dig coarse dirt. The player must take this shovel to a garden in the castle, and dig up the coarse dirt that is there. Under this is a chest containing a special bantium pickaxe, and a message saying ‘I am in 12’. This pickaxe has a tag allowing it to mine the block bantium. The player must now find room 12.

Bantium

A a rare building block, that spawns in small veins on non earth dimensions, and composes ‘The Wall’ in the confession dial dimension. It can be used to make almost indestructible builds, as it is explosive resistant and can only be mined with a bantium pickaxe, obtained in the confession dial. It has a foggy off white texture, and is a light source.

Bantium Pickaxe

A unique tool, only one can be obtained by the player per world. It is found in a chest in the confession dial dimension. It has a very high durability (about 10000 (diamond pickaxe has 1500)), and is found with the following enchantments: Unbreaking III, Efficiency V, and Fortune VII. It is the only tool that can mine the block bantium. It has a texture similar in color to the bantium block.

Note:I decided not to make the pickaxe indestructible for several reasons: One: I feel that it is a little OP, Two: A matter of strategy. Logically, the player should only use the pickaxe to mine bantium, as it is the only tool that can do so. But the extremely high fortune enchantment tempts the player to mine other ores, such as diamond and emeralds, with it. Therefore, with a limited number of uses, the player must choose how to use this tool carefully. But is has such a high durability that it doesn't matter that much.

? Room 12 will initially be blocked off by bedrock. To access it, the player must have the Veil come to the top of the highest tower, and then tell a confession. The player does this by punching the Veil (I can’t think of a more practical way of putting a ‘confession’ into minecraft, but if you have a better idea, I would really like to hear it (seriously, I’m not being sarcastic)). The Veil would not take any damage, but it would freeze for a few moments. Room 12 would now be accessible, and the player can take it to a long hallway with a bantium wall at the end of it. They must then use the bantium pickaxe to mine The Wall. Bantium will take a while to mine even with this pickaxe, and the wall is 20 blocks thick. While mining, the veil will indeed pursue the player.

◊ A side note on confessing: If the player is cornered by the veil at any point before or after needing to get to room 12, they can still confess to it by punching it, other wise the Veil will kill them. The Veil will then pause for a few moments, letting the player get away. Room 12 is only unlocked when the player confesses to the Veil in the tower. Also, the player can only confess to the veil three times (like the Doctor, you’re not telling who the Hybrid is (mostly because no one can figure it out after Hell Bent…sorry)). After running out of confessions, if they are cornered by the Veil, it will kill them.

—If the player is killed by the Veil, either while mining the wall, or at any point in the castle, they are re-spawned back in the castle’s centre, and can confess three times again. Also, keep inventory will be turned on when the player is in the castle, so they wont lose anything. The player then needs to go back to room 12 and mine again.(I would say everything resets, and the player has to re-find the pickaxe, as this would be more true to the show; but that would get old very quickly).

◊ A side note on the Castle: If the player searches various parts of the castle, they will find a number of different items that generated in chests. Some will contain common items (food, iron ingots, book and quills (to take notes), redstone). More rare chests will contain harder to get armor and loot, and some rare armor stands will spawn containing parts of 12th Doctor’s outfit. Other 12th doctor items can rarely be found in chests as well.

? After the player finishes mining the wall, the Veil will die, and will drop some clockwork and redstone dust. A portal located at the end of the wall will transport the player to Gallifrey. The bantium pickaxe is the player’s to keep, and they can use it as the only tool with which they can mine bantium in the future. The player will be back in survival mode, and can use their TARDIS key to summon their TARDIS, steal/borrow a new one from the citadel, attend the academy and become a Time Lord (I can dream, right?), fight another round with the Master (suggestion pending, it’s going to be longer than this one), or find the cool stuff mentioned in this thread. Gallifrey is now found again, and the player can go there anytime they want in the TARDIS from now on.

PS: There are some flaws with this in a multi-player setting. I choose to ignore them.

Phew…

Well, I don’t expect all this to be added, but let me know what you think anyways.

(Also, An alternative suggestion that includes going to Gallifrey can be found here (I recommend reading it as well)).

it would be cool if you get chased into a tardis when you attempt to steal one, like  the timelords chase after you

WOW. This was very detailed. Also, maybe make the pickaxe indestructible? Since it is the only way to mine bantium, and having to go into the confession dial every time you want to get a new pickaxe is kind of tedious. Or at least let it have a 5000 durability or something.

As for multiplayer, maybe let the confession dial dimension like the TARDIS dimension? But you won't be able to enter castles spawned by other players.

I was thinking of the pickaxe as having a very high durability, and that is also why I was thinking it should have an unbreaking enchantment on it. But I wouldn't be against the idea of it being indestructible as well.

maybe when you finally get to gallifrey and into the tardis garage ( idk if theres a fancy word for it so i'll just call it " the garage " ), there would be lines of tt capsule Tardises because their chameleon circuits have not been set yet,  and you'd get a random dalek mod interior upon entering one

I have one problem with this thread and that is the fact that you would have already obtained a TARDIS. While there could be ways of getting a TARDIS other than going to Gallifrey, I feel that they would be to easy. I think that maybe instead of having a TARDIS beforehand, the Player could make a Junk TARDIS (It was built/crafted by the Doctor in 'the Doctor's wife' which would be more accurate to the show than crafting a full TARDIS (they are grown)) which would serve as a way to get between planets to get the pieces of the dial instead of a full TARDIS.

Other than that, thanks for Crediting me. laughing

This was a great read. The idea you have here is really creative and very interesting.

You definitely have my support on this suggestion, and thanks for crediting me in the thread.

Yes, this is the argument that I've had going on in my head. It makes a lot of sense that the player should get the TARDIS from Gallifrey, and yet I feel that it should be the last dimension the player can reach. So I formatted this suggestion primarily off of the current way of obtaining a TARDIS (which I dislike, I admit), mostly just to avoid that argument. But that way is definitely one way around this.

 Totally agree with ya.

I just added a few more details to the pickaxe, Starlord_2001 got me thinking about it a bit more.
