[How to Post] Bug Reports Formatting PLEASE READ

Hi all,

This is a reference thread for those wishing to report a bug.

The format below can be used as a guideline to help report a bug to SWD Team.

I've written other "How To" threads such as the crash-reports format, server unbanning report format and a suggestions format.

Bug Reporting Format: Copy and paste into your post please

Please put this in your Thread title:  [Location of Bug] Title [Bug Status]

Version of forge:

Dalek Mod Version:

List of mods (please include this in a spoiler):

What was the user doing prior to this:

Location of bug [E.g. Servers]:

Status:

Description:

What it affects in-game:

Any other information:

SWD Forums Bug report format:

Type of bug:

Status of Bugs

* As suggested by ArcPhoenix:

Status:

  • Solved (This bug has been fixed in recent Updates)
  • Unsolved (This Bug has not been fixed in the most recent Updates)
  • Unknown Status (The bug was on a past update of the Dalek mod and hasn't been tested in the latest version. Users should only use this tag on older bug threads and test for the bug on the latest update as soon as he or she can and then set the status to either solved or unsolved. This tag should never be used on a post for the current version of the Dalek mod. If it was an an old version, the user should test before making the thread)
  • Being Worked on (Used when you have heard an SWD member say a certain bug is being worked on after you have already posted the thread)

A Note:

  • Updates, like Update 42, are Updates made to a specific Version of the Dalek Mod. (ie: "Update 42 on Verion 1.8" or "Update 39 on Version 1.7.10" (That's its current version right?)
  • Version, is used to refer to a version of the Dalek Mod that runs on a specific verion of Minecraft (1.8 and 1.7.10 are the versions being supported atm)

Note: It's important to know the difference as the team continues to support specific versions of the mod (both 1.8 and 1.7.10 are both current) but always are moving the mod through updates.

Also, keep in mind that updates are not always for all versions and may only apply to a specific version of the mod (for example. we've been getting a number of 1.8 updates lately, but I don't remember exactly how long it's been since 1.7.10 was last updated)

May I also suggest:

What was the user doing prior to this:

Crash Log if any (Put this as a separate comment):

Also

Title the post

[Location of bug (ie: forum, mod, or server)] Bug title

Yeah sure! I'll add this in a seperate thread specially made for crash reports.

EDIT: Added!

Oh, also.

Were You using other Mods? (If so, please list them. And if you use a lot, make them a separate comment on your thread):

Added. Was working on the DM Guide just then.

I have a suggestion for heading format:

Status:

You should add

Update Number of the Dalek Mod (Not the Same as Version):

 Thanks! Added.

Imo there should be a variant of the bugs report for the forums.

It's a bit confusing when there are headings like "what does it affect in game."
