New Site Updates!

For the first time in a while we have decided to make some big changes to the website. We have read through a lot of user suggestions of what people want to see on the site. Some of these features we have not yet added, such as the search bar (It is coming, don't worry) and the friends system with private messaging.

What's been changed?

There are two main changes to the website:

1. The beta products page has been tidied up and the design has been improved. The page was looking a bit lost still using the old dark color scheme left over from early last year.
2. New purchase popup box on product pages. The old one look very out of place on the website and didn't look very professional, so we came to the conclusion that an update was in order!
3. We have been improving the payments system on the site. Many users have requested that we add in card payments as they do not have a PayPal account but really want to buy a product. So we spent a good few updating out payment systems to include support for Credit / Debit card payments. The new system was extensively tested by multiple developers before we pushed it out to ensure users had no issues.

How can I pay by card?

To use a credit or debit card to purchase products all you need to do it  click "Buy" or "Buy as Gift" on a product page and you will be greeted by the nice new payment popup. Here you will see two options, "Pay with PayPal" or "Pay with Card". To pay with card just click on the "Pay with Card" button and then you will be greeted with the card information box. Here you enter your card number, expiry date and CVC number. Once you have filled in all fields press "Pay". This will then process the payment and then redirect you to the orders page.

What about HireSWD and the DMU Store?

Hire SWD and the DMU store will only be accepting PayPal payments for the moment. This is while we get feedback on the new card system before we roll it out to over areas.

Is this safe?

Of course. We wouldn't put you or your card details at risk. None of your card details are stored or processed on our servers. We use Stripe.com over a secure HTTPS connection to handle all of the payments. Nice job John! Its annoying to pay with paypal if you don't have it so now I can buy stuff without using paypal :D.

You could always pay with card when you went to the paypal page but I guess this is easier.

It didn't always show for people. Some people in other countries were having issues as I don't think "PayPal Guest" was accepted

As the card payments seem to have been a good hit I have decided to start updating the HireSWD page to accept them. This change should roll out over the next week.
