[Forums and Server Concern] SWDTeam Password Problem and Public Server Not Working

Hello everyone,

I have two problems to ask about:

1.) I am having a problem with passwords on the SWDTeam website. I keep getting told that my password is wrong even though I know that it is correct. This is happening even after I did the "Forgot your password" thing.

2.) I was playing on the public server when I got kicked off, and now I cannot get on. Each time I try to, I get an error saying,  "io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException". Why is this? I am using the latest Dalek Mod release.

After you reset your password, check the (spam folder of the) email adress associated with your account. You should have gotten a mail by us which has your new temporary password.

The server is indeed experiencing a lot of crashes these last few days.

Great! (Not great, but at least it's not just me.) I thought the server problem was just me. I'm still having a problem with changing my password though. Even with the password that was e-mailed to me, I am getting "Incorrect Password" errors.

are you typing your username or your email in the login place, if you are typing email try only username and vice versa

I am typing my username. I actually just registered another account as a test and then tried to change my password but when I tried, it said I entered the incorrect password even though I know I did not.

I'm very stupid... I forgot a tiny line of code which was generating the wrong password. It's been like this for almost 2 years and nobody mentioned it...

It's fixed now anyway, try the forgot password again and all should be good

It's fine. As a fellow web developer I know how easy it is to do that. I'm afraid it's still not working though.

Have you gone through the "forgot password" process again?

Have you gone through the "forgot password" process again?

Yes. I tried using the new password that it gave me to log in again but it did not let me in. The only reason I am able to reply here is because I have a session that is already logged in. When I try to use the new password in a different browser though, I still cannot get in.

I am not sure if this was intended, but my first password attempt was 10 characters and my second password that was generated is 32 characters. (I assume that the passwords that are generated are MD5 hashes of something.)

Hmmm let me take another look quickly

Okay sounds good. If it would be of help, I can PM you the passwords that I received on each of my attempts.

Hmmmm this is odd. I've just tested it and it appears to be working for me...

I'm tempted to remove the email forgot password system and replace it with a new authentication system. Maybe a security question or a mobile number

I tried it again and it worked for me this time.

What's interesting is that the first time I tried the "Forgot my Password" thing, I got this: C9v2FCHUeB

Then, after you told me to try it again, I got this: 26d855f1f07e4a004404059535f00a06

Then I tried it a third time, and the password I got looked like the first one. Obviously it wasn't the same, but it had 10 characters. Perhaps it was a problem with the e-mail?

Maybe, are you sure you didn't copy a blank space or something?
Sometimes I've had reports where people have copied a blank space when copying and pasting.

Either way, I will work on the new auth system. Plus the current forgot password page looks so old and out of date

I checked to make sure that I did not copy a blank space, so I am confident that that was not the problem. Anyway, as long as I got my new password, I am content.
