[Suggestion] Regeneration

Bump, Added the suggestion by @drwhofan111 about a thing of being too damaged to regenerate and I've also added a price to a new regeneration cycle until Gallifrey is added at least, as suggested by Arc.

I've seen a mod called HeroesExpansion by a guy called lucraft, that has an implemented karma feature, look it up in curseforge if you are interested. Maybe when gallifrey returns you will need to go to the high council, and they will decide whether to grant you a regen or not depending on your karma

That's a good idea! I'll look into that.

Maybe to lower you are on HP the slower you regenerate?

For example. 3 Hearts = 7 seconds, 1 Heart = 12 seconds? It's just going along with the idea of being too weak to regenerate :P

Also sort of going along with Dhi's suggestion

Maybe make it so you can set certain skins to regenerate into, and the default ones would be The Doctor's

That's sort of the idea except if you're too low in health you're too damaged to regenerate, so the question is not the length it takes but the amount of health you've got to be able to regenerate or have to reheal normally before you get the chat prompt to regenerate.

I don't think that your hunger should be refilled, given how long the eating scene with the 11th went on. Also, maybe to gain your FIRST set of regenerations,  you need to craft that device to turn yourself human that the 10th used (But reversed, so it turns you into a Time Lord) which would be really expensive, and then you gain the ability to regenerate once you use it. Then you can also turn yourself human where you lose your regens, and to get them back you need to craft a pocketwatch (Also pretty expensive). Also, maybe Time Lords could have double the hp, but mobs will be more hostile. Like Daleks would gain speed while chasing you and shoot faster, while staying at neutral towards humans. And then some mobs could exclusively hunt humans or Time Lords.

That's possible for a later feature of the pocket watch and the machine in the Tardis, but what if you're dying of hunger and have no food? That's why I said the hunger will regenerate too, also the eating scene went on for so long not because he was ravenously hungry but because he was trying to figure out what food he liked with the new regeneration. The idea of having to go to Gallifrey once it's added and having to pay the Time Lords or talk them into giving you a new regeneration cycle gets around that idea of the pocket watch because even without Gallifrey added you'll get a chat prompt after running out and dying asking if you want to buy more regenerations for a certain amount of diamonds when you respawn, the number is still up for discussion but as of the time I'm writing this it's still a total of 5 diamonds to pay to get a new cycle after you run out and die.

Maybe you would have to go to Gallifrey to get some of the parts for the machine. Also, maybe the hunger could be partially, but not completely filled. Like by 8 points or something? And maybe instead of diamonds, it could be two stacks of Dalekanium or something. Sort of like as proof that you are loyal to the Time Lords. GOT IT maybe the default cost is diamonds, but it can be customized in the config.

There has been a suggestion like that actually

On the topic of diamonds, I do have to agree that they seem an odd choice. Just a suggestion, but maybe something craftable from rare items would be interesting? To tie it into Gallifrey, there could be some structure somewhere on Gallifrey where the item has to be used for the item to work (when Gallifrey does get added). It could be explained as some sort of non-canon advanced restorative machine made by the Time Lords which restores Regenerations, but only if the right material is possessed.

I like that idea! But until Gallifrey we could have the price for the new cycle of regenerations to be 5 diamonds because they're rare but if people aren't happy about that then we could have that as the default item and price for it but as Skeleton suggested you could be able to change it if you wanted to in the settings to like 5 stacks of Dalekanium or whatever the player wants.

theres a regeneration mod out there if you ask someone on the discord for it they might be able to provide a link

There is? Cool, but seeing as this is a Doctor Who mod, it should still have the ability to regenerate without the use of another mod alongside. :) That is interesting to know nonetheless. :)

This regeneration mod (if we are thinking about the same one) is really new, and it doesn't change your skin.

Here's the link if you're interested:

Thanks for that, but my point still stands about the fact that as this is a Doctor Who mod Regeneration should be allowed and the way I suggested it would be great fun if not add extra elements to the game to make it more engaging.

I agree, just wanted to point that out

This has already been confirmed for Update 47.

A friend of ours had made a regeneration mod and gave permission to Sub and John to add it to the mod.

Open the spoiler to see an early example of it :D

Regeneration HYPE!

Also, to say something of value, not long to go til update 47. Only 10 or so more 'features' to remove and then it's done, according to the SWD twitter.

EDIT: although, saying that, I do have something else of value. I made a Regeneration system in vanilla (I don't use mods currently, nothing against this mod, I just can't be bothered deleting my game every-time I want to get rid of an old forge) 1.12 using command blocks and a score board. Needs a bit more work, but it'll fully Regen you when you get below 2 hearts (also worth noting I gave anyone who is a time-lord double health, because 2 hearts,

one thing they should add is for you to put your own skins in the system so that when you regenerate it changes your skin and it should be able to toggle it on/off via the pause menu

The problem with this is that skin changing would only work locally, unless 1. SWDTeam would host skin storing servers, which would be expensive, or 2. skins would be changed through a Mojang website, which would be rather unsecure and annoying.
