SWD Olympics 2018

Hello! Soon the very first SWD Olympics will be held! Big sporty events for all of the community to enjoy, organized by Didgeridoomen & Dutchbear16. Five events shall be livestreamed on the SWD Youtube Channel according to the following schedule:

Timetable

16 June: Opening Ceremony - 6 PM (on DMU Public)

17 June: Staff Survival Games - 2 PM

14 July: DMU Beta Sports - 2 PM (check below on how to join)

1 September: SWD Bowling + U48 behind the scenes - 5 PM

17 August: Hardcore battle - 2 PM

All times used are British and subject to change.

I want to join!

The opening ceremony will be held on DMU public. Several important community members (whom you guys voted for in the discord server) shall carry the Olympic Torch on a long route through various towns to the stadium. You are welcome to encourage them along the route and be in the audience at the stadium. DMU will have a player limit. If you can’t join, you can still watch it on YouTube through the livestream.

If you have SWD Beta Access, you can join the special Beta Sports. To be eligible to join the Beta event, you need to join the SWD discord and have the Beta role (which you can request in #support).

If you want to join, you need to put your full Minecraft username in #beta-olympics. Once you've done that, you will be assigned to a group. More info will come on the day itself.

For the final event, the hardcore battle, everyone is welcome to join.

This is our most ambitious event we ever organized, so some things might go wrong. Apologies in advance. Nevertheless, we hope you will enjoy these big community events!

Do Summer Staff get to join staff survival games?

Sorry all the teams for the staff survival games are currently full.

So during the beta events anyone can participate in the games if they have beta or no?

 Sorry, but you can only join the event for people with beta access if you have beta access yourself. More info on enlistment shall follow.

is there a limit on how many people can run with the torch in the opening ceremony?

 I'm gonna say no on this one. We're just gonna pick a few people.

I assume you're not allowed to vote for yourself? (Though actually, it wouldn't matter, as I wouldn't get chosen anyways, but just asking for myself and my own conscience.)
