[Dalek Mod Suggestion] Regeneration (Arcphoenix's Version) [New Feature/Regeneration]

Read this linked thread before reading this one

[Dalek Mod Suggestion] Fob Watch and Chameleon Arch- Become a Time Lord or a Human [New Block and Item/New Features]

This Suggestion has just been separated from another thread. Format is WIP

My version of Regeneration (Check out Quartz563's post too. He beat me to suggesting this :P)

What triggers Regeneration?

  • I haven't exactly decided yet, but there is a prerequisite of needing to be a Time Lord in order to regenerate
  • It will be triggered when a Player's health is completely Depleted
    • I'm thinking that there will be a few cases in which the player won't have a choice of Regenerating, and death will be just death (likely in the cases of some boss fights perhaps),
    • I'm also thinking that there will be a few things that can cause regeneration, even if the health bar hasn't been completely depleted yet. Just what will cause this, I haven't decided upon yet.
  • The player can choose to regenerate (Suggested by BlingBro)

Post Regeneration:

  • Post Regeneration can be bad or good. It depends on a percent chance of "Sickness" or "Alright Regeneration". Depending on how you die, this may change the percentage
  • Bad Post Regenerations
    • Sometimes you'll regenerate successfully, but will have ill effects afterwards
      • Possible Bad effects
        • Slowness
        • Weakness
        • Blindness
        • Nausea
        • Mining Fatigue
        • Hunger
      • Staying in the Zero Room, or sleeping in a "Zero Pod" (I'm coining the term. The "Zero Pod" appeared in Castrovalva) can make these effects go away quicker
    • Sometimes your Regeneration won't work out too well or will be in danger of failure.
      • Sometimes a regeneration will put you into a critical state where you might just die
        • The Player will have a Wither Effect
        • Taking Damage will kill the player whether he or she has regenerations left or not
        • Getting in a Metamorphic Symbiosis Regenerator or eating a golden apple will save a player in critical Danger.
        • Additionally a fellow time Lord may be able to give up a life to heal the player
  • Normal Regeneration (A regeneration where nothing goes wrong)
    • Effects
      • Regeneration effect (will last for a while). It's pretty high since, in the canon, being hurt in this time frame can usually allow for healing (like what happened to tenth's hand)
      • Possible Debuffs:
        • Blindness (becomes Night-Vision after a Certain Amount of time)
        • Nausea
        • Weakness (becomes strength after a certain amount of time)
        • Mining Fatigue (becomes Haste after a period of time)
      • Buffs (they happen after the initial regeneration effects):
        • Leaping
        • Swiftness
        • Those mentioned in the Debuffs
    • If you hold down a certain key, you can hold back your regeneration for a bit
      • Do this too long and whatever triggered it may kill you
      • That or the regeneration will jut overcome your will and happen
  • Good Regeneration (Not common)
    • No debuffs
    • Overall, all stats are improved for a period of time
  • Destructive Regeneration:
    • This happens as a result of holding back a normal regeneration
    • All this bottled up energy, when released tends to be very destructive
    • This tends to cause fires around the player and damage mobs in the near vicinity (often times, the mob won't survive).
  • Cycle Reset
    • As this is HORRIBLY overpowered, this for now, will have no legitimate trigger until some balancing can be added to it.
    • It will only be available via commands or Creative (until balancing can be added)
    • Effects
      • Based on what happened in the show, this is what happens when a Time Lord is given a new set of regenerations and is nearing the end of the last life of the first cycle
      • The player will have very destructive beams emitting from his or her hands which will be able to be directed in different directions (how this will be done is WIP)
      • A shockwave will also be created, throwing back mobs in a certain radius, and perhaps even killing some that are too close.
      • The player's appearance change will be delayed a bit after the initial Energy Emissions
  • Post Regeneration Amnesia
    • Many of the Doctors have had this. Actually, nearly all of them.
    • Effects
      • What was the Combination again...? Where'd I put that key...?
        • You can't open Protected Chests
      • "Do you know how to fly this thing?"
        • This won't always happen
        • When flying the Tardis, you may not land where you intended
        • Coordinates may sometimes wind up being off
        • When putting in a direction,(flight mode or vortex) the Tardis may go a completely different way
        • Trying to use one lever may activate something else.
        • Also, all panels and levers can look the same
        • There will be a way to lessen the effect/cure it faster, but that's WIP
      • You won't be able to use waypoints (you forgot them)
      • All of these will be cured after time.
      • Drinking Tea will shorten the time of this effect
    • Post-Regeneration Disorientation (Suggested by BellatorHD)
      • This doesn't happen every time
      • Periodically, tying to walk straight may make you move a bit to the left or right
      • Sometimes your direction inputs will me missed or changed
      • You can craft The First Doctor's cane from sticks (Or use a Sonic Cane) which will help lessen the effect so that it's manageable.

Tenth Doctor's Hand: Allows the player to keep his or her face while regenerating if the jar is in the player's inventory and toggled to "on"

  • This has a low chance of creating a "Meta Crisis Player"

Skin changing:

  • I haven't decided on how this will work yet. SWD can perhaps make two folders in the mods folder. One with some girl skins and one with some guy skins.
    • The player will be able to add skins to this folder
  • When you regenerate, you do not choose your appearance. You get a completely random  skin.
  • Every regeneration has a high chance of choosing from the same gender folder for a skin, but there's also a small chance (maybe 5%? Idk) it will pick from a folder of the opposite gender. The chances of getting a skin from an opposite gender then increase to (Perhaps 80%? Idk), but will go back to low again once you're your normal gender again.

Other Aesthetics:

  • Good regeneration:
    • will probably be like 11th-12th's "sneeze Regeneration". Lol (Nah... I may change this)
  • Normal Regeneration:
    • Golden light erupting from the face and hands like how it has been lately
  • ill Regeneration:
    • Will resemble the regeneration of the First Doctor into The Second Doctor, or the Sixth Doctor into the Seventh Doctor

  • Critical Regeneration:
    • Perhaps every few minutes, during the danger state, the player will flicker as a Semi-Skeleton (Kind of like the Master in End of TIme, although that was actually for a completely different reason).
    • The actual animation during the actual regeneration will resemble the ill Regeneration

  • Regenerating with a Tenth Doctor's hand

  • Destructive "Napalm" Regeneration
    • Something like this

  • Cycle Reset (Its in game effects and balancing are WIP because of how powerful it is)

Choosing not to regenerate: You may choose to not Regenerate upon a death. This will be treated like a normal death.

Any other information:

  • Regeneration energy can be stolen with a Valeyard enchanted weapon, and I might add a few other ways later. Special enemies for instance.

To do list:

  1. Hallucinations of past companions, resulting after Regeneration (maybe sometimes in the place of current companions for a short period of time)
  2. Maybe some kind of overall hallucination illness that can occur after regeneration that can change things in your vision.
    • I think something like this happened to the Sixth Doctor, which explains why he tried to strangle Peri
  3. Perhaps a way of having Regenerations Stolen (I'll explain this some other time)
  4. That unnamed really powerful Cycle Reset thing 11th did in Time of the Doctor. I'll need to work out balancing and whatnot.
  5. I may implement some of these as non-death regenerations. Idk http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_causes_of_regeneration

Zero Pod (Details Coming soon)

  • The Zero Pod will help a player get over the effects of post regeneration much faster,
  • It's recipe calls for 6 Roundels and some of the blocks that make up a Zero Room
  • The Zero Pod, while it works, is not as effective or as fast as the Zero Room when it comes to healing

Mid-Regeneration/Stopping a Player from Regenerating

Origin of Suggestion: There are ways to cancel a Time Lord's Regeneration. One of the most notable ones is having both hearts damaged before Regeneration finishes. This "Mid-Regeneration Health" acts in a bit of a similar way.

The Mid-Regeneration Health bar:

  • In the Middle of Regeneration, the Regenerating Player will gain a new Health Bar
  • To kill the regenerating player/ time lord, this health bar must be completely depleted before the Regenerating player gets too deep into the regeneration, at which point the regenerating player will be unharmed by attacks

Timing:

  • The length of time in which to attack the regenerating player will be longer or shorter depending on the armor worn
    • No armor, for example, has a greater amount of time the player can be killed in
    • Diamond armor, for example, has a shorter amount of time in which the player can be killed in
  • Throwing a Judas Poison Splash potion on a player will increase the time in which he or she is vulnerable (this is different from the Judas Poison enchantment)

 Balancing:

  • The energy released during Regeneration will do a bit of damage to whatever armor the player is wearing
    • Aesthetics (Suggested by Bellator HD)
      • particles will fly off of individual bits of armor based on whatever armor the player is wearing
      • If the helmet becomes completely damaged, it will fly off the player

Regaining Regenerations (Largely WIP)

  • It will require some player made item.
  • For now, the recipe is this, but it will likely change over time.

Regeneration Item

Appearance: It will look a bit like a Mist (May change this)

  • The Item ill LookThe you an item that looks a bit like mist. (Crossed out until I can figure out what the heck I meant to type here XD)
  • At the end of your cycle, if you die with you will have an option to regenerate.
  • If you do, you will go through a cycle reset and have a full cycle restored.
  • The item will then disappear from your inventory.
  • I'm still deciding upon the cost to craft it (since it's an overpowered thing as it).

To do to acquire a Regeneration

  1. Acquire 3 Ghast Tears in the Nether
  2. Grind for a Wither Skeleton Skull
  3. Mine around until you get a Diamond block, or grab one of the ones inevitably stocked in the player's chests.
  4. Kill the Wither twice
  5. Get the gold you have stocked up, or build a zombie pigman farm, or go mining

Value:

  • Perhaps a bit too much work... But the player could perhaps stock up on them, even though they require a lot of work to get.

Regeneration Energy Menu

Activation: The Regeneration Energy menu is opened by pressing "R"

Options:

  • Cancel (Pressing R again does the same thing)- Closes the Regeneration Menu
  • Heal- Allows the player to heal whomever is in his or her crosshair (if close enough) with the player's own regeneration energy (suggested by Bellator HD)
    • This was seen in WItch's Familliar and Let's Kill Hitler
  • Regeneration Energy give- Transfers some of the Player's regeneration energy into another player. This can help a player who is in Critical Regeneration or who may not have any regenerations left.
  • Regenerate- Allows the player to regenerate at will (suggested by BlingBro). This usually will trigger good or normal regenerations. Perhaps the player can have a bit of a limited choice on what to look like (How this can be implemented is WIP)
    • Note: If you try to Regenerate past your limit you will just die (this happened to Azmael in Twin Dilemma)
  • Sharing Whole Regenerations- WIP

Regeneration Energy Bar

Whenever using Regeneration Energy to heal something, it doesn't neccesarily cost a whole regeneration.

Details are WIP

Displayed in: The Regeneration Energy bar will be a vertical bar aligned at mid-height on the right side of the player's HUD.

Details:

  • The Regeneration Energy Bar is not a Gallifreyan marketed food
  • The Regeneration Energy Bar is a measurement of how much Regeneration energy the player has
  • There will be a number above the energy bar stating how many full incarnations the player has left.
    • It also counts the bar visible to the player if it is filled.
  • Healing players will take some energy from this bar

Holding Back a Regeneration

I'll get back to this a bit later.

Holding back a regeneration will increase the time a regeneration takes.

Doing so will allow a player to release it as a very destructive regeneration.

Doing it too long however may kill the player holding regeneration back

Incarnation Indicator

Displayed in: In the Top Left of the Screen will be some text saying "Incarnation Number [Numberth]"

Purpose: It will allow a player to know which incarnation he or she is in

Other information:

  • "Hand Regenerations" will increase the incarnation number, despite not being a change in face and whatnot.

What Calls for which Regeneration?

Ill Regeneration:

  • Triggered by things like...
    • Drowning
    • Falling from great heights
    • Getting hit by falling objects (ie: anvils)
    • Being kinda deep in an explosion (but not that deep)
    • Having extremely low hunger prior to regenerating (I'm considering having regeneration require having a certain amount of the hunger bar filled).

Normal Regeneration:

  • Triggered by things such as
    • most battle damage
    • falling from no-so-great heights

Lava Regeneration:

  • Lava regeneration is a special kind of regeneration triggered only when the player is in lava.
    • The player may have a few issues, though none that will restrict movement
    • Differences from other regenerations:
      • The player will be able to move (swim) freely as he or she regenerates.
      • The whole "mid-regeneration health bar thing" will not able to take damage from lava. Instead, the player will be undamageable by lava during "lava regeneration." In the next incarnation, the player will begin recieving lava damage again. Thus, if a player is really unlucky, and is knocked into some lava, he or she may lose a few regenerations getting out, but will also be able to get out
    • Upon reaching the shore
      • After reaching a place on which the player can stand, he or she will begin to suffer more status conditions, but will quickly stop being on fire after taking a few steps

Elixir of Life

Crafting (I'll likely change this later):

Chalice (reusable like a bucket or glass bottle)

Elixir of Life

|        Air       |    Diamond     |        Air       |

|        Air       | Water Bottle |        Air       |

|        Air       |    Chalice         |        Air       |

Effects:

  • Can Save the player if dealing with a Critical Regeneration
  • If the player drinks this during a normal Regeneration (or right before choice to Regenerate), he or she will be able to choose what kind of Time Lord he or she will become

Types:

  • Strength
    • Haste (Beacon effect) (Mining speed is increased)
    • Strength (Beacon effect)

  • Agile:
    • Leaping (Beacon Effect) or Jump Boost (Potion effect)
    • Speed boost (Depth Strider (Potion) + Swiftness (Potion) or Speed Boost (Beacon))

    • Weakness (To balance)
  • Enduring:
    • Slower Hunger Depletion Rate
    • Slower Oxygen Depletion rate (Under Water or in areas without oxygen)

  • Tough:
    • Resistence (Beacon Effect)
    • Some Extra hearts (Health Boost)

  • Healthy:
    • Better Health Regen rate (Potion)
    • I have to remember the other. I think it was "get over status conditions quicker"

  • Lucky:
    • Looting/Fortune (Looting is for mobs. Fortune is for ores)
    • Luck of the Sea

    • Lower Attack and Defense (Balance)
  • Loser:
    • Weakness and Slowness

All of these are permanent on a player until he or she regenerates again.

Dying on the Last Incarnation

lf a player dies on their last incarnation, they just die. No regenerating. They respawn back at their home, and if keep items is turned off or hardcore mode is on, the player will reap the consequences of either game rule. If not on hardcore, the player will be made human again upon respawn. He or she will be unable to gain any new regenerations until he or she makes himself or herself into a Time Lord again.

If a player dies after becoming a Time Lord, he or she will have a time penalty during which he or she must remain human. After this, he or she can become a Time Lord again, provided he or she has the right resources

And they make the folders so people can add their own skins? Also I'd make the gender thing fully random.

And they make the folders so people can add their own skins? Also I'd make the gender thing fully random.

I was mainly thinking of the Doctor and the Master/Missy (it seems Gender swapping is a rare thing so far).

And sure. I'll add in the folder thing

I really want to add a way of doing this, but how do you do it without it being too OP? Lol.

Idk if it's a standard thing either (seeing as it only happened once)

Perhaps saving the time lords or helping them will earn you another cycle

Ok ill try the sneeze Regeneration as you can see he sees an illusion of Amy Pond i was wondering if that could happen when the sneeze Regeneration happened or that u can see a illusion off the players u have added in your TARDIS

Hm... I can see this working. With a kind of archived list of the players a Tardis owner has had in the Tardis. I'll have to put a bit more thought into it though.

By the way, this also happened when the Fifth Doctor Regenerated, although It was a bit different

I'm going to start working on this again. Everyone remembers how the Doctor used his energy to heal Davros in Witch's Familiar right? I'm trying to think of how it should work.

Any ideas?

mabye when you napalm regenerate, you can choose what interior you want?

and mabye it could be like you can only regenerate in the tardis and if you dont  get in it in time you get an ill regeneration?

Well, the idea I had was that it could be used as a defensive mechanism. Say if you were in a place with loads of Daleks attacking you. Holding back your regeneration a bit could give a way of escape. Also, it could give time to try to prevent the regeneration (assuming you aren't already too deep into the stage).

As for changing an interior (after one has already been made), well, that's one complicated thing already. If you have any ideas for that, you could mention it in my Tardis thread.
